ASURION SUX! NO LONGER CARRIES Moto DROID!

My droid is on back order as well. I went to my local store, and talked to my favorite tech. She didnt have any droids in stock, but could order me one from their warehouse, if Asurion agreed to it. She called, and laughed at the rep when she was told my options were an Ally, a Devour, or an Eris, and they wouldnt let her order me a replacement. SHE told Asurion that was a downgrade, and I wouldnt accept anything less than a D1. She was going to try to push for a D2, but Asurion wouldnt budge. Anyway, they told me a 4-7 day back order and it will ship direct from Moto to me (New? ).
She also told me to come back and see her if it is back ordered for more than a week, and she would see what else she could do.

Since the Droid was discontinued within like, days of the Droid 2 coming out, there's no reason Asurion shouldn't replace the Droid with a Droid 2; they cost about the same to make, and they sell for exactly the same. I suppose the only reason not to do it is so people don't intentionally break their phones to get a cheap upgrade. They should at least try to fix it though.

ok so its been a month since i first opened a claim LMAO...anyways i think im gonna call ASURION and try to get the INCREDIBLE out of them..since im not good at convincing ppl, i ask you guys here at this forum to help me out with the words i should use to try to convince them LOL ...PLEASE IM SERIOUS

Asurion Survey

If any of you Droid owners that are having issues with Asurion want to vent, you have the option to take a survey at the end of your claim.
If you missed the chance, here is the link
Asurion Claim survey

At the end of the survey is the option to leave feedback on your claim process. This is what I left them:

This is my first claim after being a customer for 8 years. I was insulted by being pressured into taking a downgrade for a replacement on my Droid. The Eris, Devour, and Ally are low end smart phones, and are NOT comparable to the Droid. I am glad I was able to get my phone replaced, but I have to question the tactics your company uses in offering replacement phones. I was told the Droid would be on back order for 4 - 7 days on Saturday afternoon (8/14), but then I get a call on Sunday morning (8/15) telling me the phone is ready to ship? In the end, I am glad I was able to get a replacement phone, but I am questioning continuing my insurance through Asurion.

I think if enough people complain, they will eventually be heard.

well you gotta make sure D1 is out of stock. and then they have DI in stock. if both are out of stock then they won't let you order DI. What I told them I am moving back to college (which I am) on monday and can't wait for D1 to be in stock as I need my phone immediately. And I explained my reasoning why the three phones offered is not comparable to D1. I was extremely courteous which got me long way :icon_ banana:

I merged Bob Dammit's (2 post above) ....it includes a link to a survey if anyone files a claim and is interested in taking the survey.

Wait, did you need to pay the $89 through Asurian to get the Droid replacement from the Verizon store?

Got a refurbished Moto Droid from assurian, everything worked fine until I went to use the headphone jack. It was loose, and would cause the headphone to go in and out. I called a few days later to have them send me another one, and I was told they were now out of stock or refurbs and new droids and will no longer be getting anymore in! They then wanted to charge me ANOTHER 89.00 for a new claim! After 20 minutes of aarguing i was told as a "one time courtesey" I would be sent a HTC DESIRE!?! I tried to explain to the rep that that was an ATT phone and that the incredible was the comparible verizon phone to upgrade me too. She insisted the only phone was the DESIRE! After 45 minutes of talking to a supervisor, he informed me that the rep must have been mistaken....the phone they were going to send me was a DEVOUR! After trying to argue, that this was a DOWNGRADE for almost 45 minutes. I ran the the local VZW corp store. I explained the story to the rep. He was great...call assurian himeself to help settle the problem. And he was told the same thing. The VZW store just gave me a new droid from their stock without a problem.
So anyone out there making a claim with Assurian for the Droid, make sure that they will not be sending you the DEVOUR or DESIRE! I Assume if enough people push for it, you can get an Incredible or Droid 2(after release).

MAC

Asurion did charge my American Express $89. But when they wouldn't replace the defective phone. I called American express, disputed the charge, and they(AMEX) credited my back the $89.

Just completed my insurance claim for my Droid. They now have Droids but the most interesting part was it only cost me $50. I bought my Droid around December of last year and wonder if the deductable had been smaller than it is today. I'm also hoping that since Verizon now has Droids in stock, I'll get a new one rather than a refurb....

I got my replacement D1 last week and had the same $50 dedutable. Maybe some of us are grandfathered.

The phone is a referb but you would not know from looking at it. In fact, I think its more stable than my last one. My old D1 would lock up if I ran it over 1ghz. Now I am stable at 1.25. Also, I get better benchmarks using the same exact setup as my old one (I reload from the same nandroid backup).

My only complaint is the keyboard. My old D1 had the "raised" keys on the keyboard. The new on had the flat keys.

Other than that, life is good.

No you must have had insurance before they rasied the deductable and got grandfathered in at the 50 dollar price b/c that's what happened to me.

Mine is to be delivered today, HURRY UP UPS!!!!!!!!!! I paid the $89 deductible, but I checked my contract info, and it said my deductible would be $89. I must have bought my droid after the increase, as my centro only had a $50 deductible. Asurion told me my phone would ship direct from Morotola, so IDK if it will be new or not. The claim said I would be getting ALL of the goodies my original phone was shipped with.
What am I expected to send back to Asurion? I have heard everyone say you keep the sd card, but what about the charger, usb cable, and battery (if the replacement comes with one)? From what I read on Asurions website, they send a prepaid envelope to ship the phone back, but I dont want to get hit with a charge if I only send the phone back.
What have you guys done?

they specifically told me to send in just the phone. I took out everything (SD, battery, charger, etc.) you will see that the envelope they want you to use have no room for anything else. so you have an extra battery :icon_ banana:

Crap, I did not even think to take out the battery!! All I did was pull out the SD card as my new phone did not come with one. I was also rooted so I flashed back to stock, unactivated, ESE81 using RSDlite.
