ASURION SUX! NO LONGER CARRIES Moto DROID!

Asurion Troubles - D1 Replacement

I've seen the post about how no more D1's are being made and that it can be a pain to even try and go through Asurion to get a new phone. But my question to anyone out there is have any of you been able to get an Incredible or X? I've also read that there may be a chance to buy an Incredible or X and they would reimburse for it. Has any accomplished that either?

Thanks for any help or insight.

I dropped my droid the other day and watched as it snapped in half. I went to the local VZW store, but all they would tell me is to contact Asurion. So I filed my claim online (Sunday, Aug 15), with replacement options being the other "less smart" smartphones or a back-ordered droid. I opted for the droid, but Asurion seems to have no clue as to when more units will be available.

Are those of you who filed claims in the past few days receiving droids? Or is the option still a backorder?

I got my replacement D1 last week and had the same $50 dedutable. Maybe some of us are grandfathered.

The phone is a referb but you would not know from looking at it. In fact, I think its more stable than my last one. My old D1 would lock up if I ran it over 1ghz. Now I am stable at 1.25. Also, I get better benchmarks using the same exact setup as my old one (I reload from the same nandroid backup).

My only complaint is the keyboard. My old D1 had the "raised" keys on the keyboard. The new on had the flat keys.

Other than that, life is good.

Thanks for that post. I often wondered if people were actually grandfathered in or if they paid the full amount.

I've had insurance from asurion for over 10 years, and I was still charged $89? A friend who also had his Droid replaced recently was charged $50. I bought my Droid in January of 2010. He bought his December of 2009. This is the first smart phone for both of us. Did this change take place for this year? I assume that because he bought his in 2009 and i bought mine in 2010, those who bought prior to 2010 were grandfathered in?

What I was told when I got my droid(first day it came out) was since I had insurance and did not change my plan besides add data plan I would be grandfathered in at the $50 deductable when everyone else was going to be charged $90

ugh i ended up canceling my claim and sticking with my broken screend droid...the crack is so bad that it doenst respond to my touch accurately =[..

they didnt know when droids would get back and they didnt let me get an INCREDIBLE they told me that verizon only authorized them to hand out the devour ally or eris...but i wonder why they still have the ERIS, wasnt that one discontinued way before DROID

Hmmm...I can only think of one thing...you got your droid on your own line...and "upgraded" to the "new" plan...I got my droid by upgrading another line in my account and putting it into mine...resulting of me still being grandfathered.

I had a droid 1 and my daughter spilled a drink on it...insurance sent me an incredible with all accessories for the $50 deductible.

I dont really like the incredible. I want my droid back :(

Asurion

As I type this I am on hold with Asurion. I dropped my 2nd D1 in a puddle inside the movie theater after a fresh mop. The phone works perfectly fine; unfortunately the white dot located near the battery turned red. I'm pretty sure that if something goes wrong with my phone in the future, Verizon might refuse my service. serviced. So here goes the battle for a DX or Inc with Asurion. I'll be sure to keep you posted.

Asurion

Just got off the phone. 25 minutes on hold to only be let down. D1 is on a 3-7 day back order or they'll replace your phone with 3 comparable models-Droid Eris, LG alley, and the motorola Devour. LAME
