ASURION SUX! NO LONGER CARRIES Moto DROID!

Interesting thread, I too pay for assurion insurance, I'm thinking about calling them and seeing what they say to me, I do know that every experience could be different, but if this is the case of them only offering an eris or devour, then ill keep payin for the insurance until they have no choice but to offer me an actual Droid or something that came out after, my guess would be the droid 2, its just very similar in design

I think we should cut dude some slack. He was obviously looking out for the community in sharing his awful experiences with Assurion (whether it is an Assurion, Motorola or VZW issue). No need to call him out on it or tell him to chill.

I would be bitter too.

Same thing happened to me about 3 years ago. My LCD went out on my Motorola 9Qc and so Asurian sent a 9Qm which is an older and slower model. I argued with them about that but they insisted it was the only replacement phone in stock as they had disontinued the 9Qc (try to figure that one out). Pissed me off but I didn't notice much a difference to justify throwing a fit over it. Obviously this would be a a much different issue if I had the replace my Droid now through Asurion.
 
I just called asurion and the lady who helped me, said they have been getting calls regarding this issue and they have decided to start offering the incredible instead of the eris, due to people saying the Eris wasn't a qualifying replacement without the keyboard and simply people not being happy with the HTC phone, so there you have it, Droid breaks? Expect the incredible

imo, it's only right. at least if my droid dies now i know i won't be taking a step in the wrong direction. kudos to us pissed off droid owners calling out assurion on their flawed logic.
 
Funny how after all the fighting I did with them, and told them I would even settle for an Incredible, which they denied....thats what they offer now.
Hopefully when the droid 2 comes out, they're offer that as a replacement. I think alot of Droid users have/like the droid for the Keyboard and the fact that it ISN'T running Sense UI. But the Incredible is still a great phone and what they should be offering...NOT THE ERIS!
 
eris is completely a downgrade, less camera, lesser gpu/cpu, and its htc vs motorola, and physical keyboard vs no physical keyboard.

did you call them to replace your phone within 7 days of receiving your refurb? i did and the rep said the exact same thing to me. offered me the same BS phones but i asked if theres anything else he could do. he then offered me a brand new incredible but I have yet to decide on that.. how did you get a new droid from VZW? I think I would prefer a new droid over a new incredible. i told asurion I'm going to think about it before i make my decision but I have to make my decision really soon

I can probably count them all on 1 hand

What in your mind determines "better"? probably differs from my definition. i don't have my mind made up which is why i'm seeking advice from others. you guys might see some pros and cons that i don't know about
 
i have asurion insurance yet i have never filed a claim with them. Even when i threw my blackberry storm across my room and shattered the screen never once used them. I always call the 1800 verizon number they are willing to work with you and give you a break even if you do not have insurance. But i typically go to a verizon store because i live close and they either hand me a new phone or send me a new one. One time i have gotten a refurb. Every new blackberry i recieved came with all new accesories (they wanted the old back) but next time call verizon not asurion., Verizon will just look and see you have coverage on phone and replace it for you.
 
Ok funny story about how retarded the people at Assurion are. I'm a UPS man and have a UPS store i deliver to everyday on my route. I routinely get assurion packages for people all the time, but this one got struck me funny and i started paying attention.

This guy was getting 2-3 replacements atleast 3 times a week. He would show up on Friday, pick up his 6 or so phones and leave. This went on for weeks.

Finally after i think the count was over 20 i mentioned something to the owner about this being fishy. He said ya this guy has a stack of letters from Assurion under a different name, but he didn't want to say anything because he was afraid he'd lose the box holder and money. At this point I'm thinking fraud and since the UPS store is responsible after signing for the package i had one opened. Blackberry Touch. Which at the time was the hot commodity i guess.

Anyway an employee finally called Assurion and they said they'd look into the matter. After a week or so, and 10 or so more phones they called and said cease all deliveries until further notice.

The guy was never heard from again and i have no idea what happened after that.

I should add the owner of the UPS store owns another a couple miles away. and this guy was doing it there too under a different name. nobody noticed and you can pretty much double the amount of phones he made off with.
