Can someone please help me out? Ok i tried doing something to my phone to enable boot sound on cm7 and it didn't go well. So now all it does is show the m logo then go into a blank screen. I'm positive its bricked since i can't get it to go into recovery. This is why i miss bootstrap since if something ever went wrong you can go into recovery. From my understanding is i can't get into clockwork recovery because rom manager doesn't allow it or something so i guess im stuck if anyone knows anything else? I'm sure someone will say sbf but a friend of mine has a droid x he doesn't use so im seeing if theres is any method to get into recovery to restore a backup without sbf. If not ill use my friends phone but this is my second question i think his phone is updated to the latest gb build that vzw released so how can i root that? Can i flash my cm7 backup after i root or i have to do all that cm7 all in one installer crap if so can someone give me directions it sucks i just had to mess with my phone today i write music that i do in this notepad app on my phone and i was supposed to record at 9am today at the studio =/ but thanks to anyone who can help me out.

were you on CM4DX GB or on the Froyo version? If you cant get into recovery just go ahead and SBF to the proper update that you want .340/.596/.602 If your phone was a .340 you obviously want to flash .340 then restore a backup, after rooting via gingerbreak or z4root.

As for your friends phone, it is rootable via a 1 click method. The only problem will be if he is on a different build than you were on, chances are your backup wont restore properly then you will be sbfing 2 phones.

So this is what i'd do.
1. SBF the Droid X to the build you were on.
2. Root with z4root/ gingerbreak.
3. Install Droid 2 bootstrap.
4. Reboot recovery and restore a backup.

Probably a 45min project.

What's up man? Glad you're back. Lots of stuff going on.
My suggestion is to get on rootzwiki and get sorted. You'll find all the latest stuff there.

From my screaming CM7GB-601

Battery life on GB CM7 is crazy improved. I used to be lucky to get 10 hours on the old version. Today I went golfing and used my GPS for 4.5 hours. Sync was off, but other data (maps for the golf gps app) were running, and I only dropped down to 80%, which would have been unheard of before. And the best part is you don't have to do any kind of special instructions to install. Just flash and that's it from .602. AND, you can flash nandroid backups back and forth between CM7 and other roms (or Apex at least). It makes it much less of a commitment, since you don't have to sbf. I just might actually stick with CM7 this time...

the problem is i dont know what build i was on because i think he on stock gb and my phone was on cm7 which is froyo so if i root his stock gb and go into rom manager can i just refalsh my backup of cm7
