Are you trying to restore a nandroid backup? I'm not totally understanding.

I wont mess with revnumbers unofficial stuff after the last time I had major issues wouldn't load up i thought cvpcs got the GB kernel to work on cm7

yeah im trying to restore a nandroid backup. i would get into recovery mode using ROM manager. i would try to restore my Stock+Root but it keeps freezing at the same point during "restoring data". then id have to do a battery pull. Anyway to get it to work all the way through? this is a friends phone and we need to access his texts from Stock+Root.

Also i tried restoring another backup from Stock+root to see if that one would work. it restored all the way, but when i reboot the phone, it gets stuck on the "M" logo.

Yeah, but are you on stock or cm7? What I mean is, are you trying to restore a stock rooted backup over cm7? I'm just asking cause this is the cm7 thread.

I'm hoping someone can Chime in here. I don't mess with or use backups. I'm a wipe it clean kinda guy.

What kernel are you on with cm7? If I understand correctly, you will need to be on the same kernel for both your current set up and the one you're trying to back up to. In other words, if you're on the .340 kernel and you're trying to restore a .602 kernel backup, that may be where you're running into problems.

Hey thanks for the reply! well i flashed CM7 using the method for GB. So would that mean that my CM7 Kernel would be .602 as well?

If you're on cm7, trying to get back to stock rooted, you'll have to sbf back to stock froyo and root with z4 root. If you want stock rooted gb, you'll have to sbf to stock froyo, dl and install the ota gb and root it with the d3 one click root method from your pc. That is the way to do it.

Is there anyway to put swype on cm7? I tried restoring it from titanium backup but it just FCs.

Go to the swype site and dl the installer. Then install it that way. It'll work fine.

Finally on cm7 been a troubling road! I know I bricked at least 10 times till I realized I was sbfin the wrong file. I thought that I had a corrupt SD file. Anyways is gb cm any better than froyo?
