Bionic build 5.9.901....Initial impressions......and what we know so far

Made the move to 901 and retained root access... now to work on adding my favorite rom back. I would love to run ICS4Bionic but not sure i want to full with non-working issues with it right now...

stock Bionic here, the .901 did nothing for me. My data is still crapshoot...

At this point, given all the rave reviews and my personal experience with this build, I gotta say that any remaining problems are most likely network based. I think it's time that people accept that LTE is a virgin technology here in the states and it's going to take a little bit of time before it's as reliable and widespread as 3G.

I have a question gentlemen ,
MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEARS BTW
if i use this to update , can i then use the deodex file made for the 893 update to deodex this update ? or will i have to wait for someone to make it for this new update 901 ?

When I did the update, I had no data connection.

I tried Airplane Mode and still no data connection.

I tried Restart Connection and still no data connetion.

I left my house (always a bad spot for data) and went 10 feet. BANG, data connection.

With my stock Bionic, it's pretty much the same as it was before any updates so nothing was lost. I'll have to give it some time to see what it does.

Do you live in a concrete bunker? LOL...Did you always have issues with service in your house?

In a way. We live in a valley where reception is bad. I have a network extender for the phone. So yes, data inside the house will vary, even from time of day. I could be sitting on my couch and have 4G and later on nothing. Outside, the ability jumps up. When I had my OG Droid it was the same.

It was a little scary as I hadn't done a manual update on the Bionic before so at first it looked like it made it worse. Not really; I just had to be patient.

Gotcha... Let us know how it is in an area with a solid data connection.

Oh, with 4G I'm able to stream Netflix without any problems.

For the most part, I'm not seeing any difference, but there's probably a bunch of stuff behind the scenes I'm not aware of (at least not yet).

I dont buy this. My TB works just fine and has been doing so since its release day. The other day I actually dropped data literally 100 ft from a Verizon store, lol, from full 4g to nothing.

It's clear the problem is hardware related, the Bionic antennae are junk. Most likely the. 901 update juiced them up as high as possible, hence the results some are seeing. I can only hope that Verizon would add more juice to the towers, but with the Bionic becoming an old phone by the day - it seems doubtful.
