GSM can be switched on the fly without a reboot...It crashes phone.apk but it works after anyways. And since when is Hexen buggy?

Good news for me. I will try CM7 now
What about Hexen - I like it, but often I can't answer a call. Also after a few switches between CDMA and GSM data connection fails to start and requires reboot. But there are no alternatives, because stock firmware often reboots suddenly and is slow.
CM7 on my Defy works super!

Get us a copy of GB for d2g from Moto or finish libaudio.so for Cvpcs then we can.
As for hexen, whats buggy about it?

The new nightly is completely broken for me. It just randomly reboots in under 60 seconds of use.

force closes on nightly 25. should i re-flash?

So I flashed nightly 25 (29 wouldn't switch out of airplane mode) and I can't download anything because media.process and android.proccess force closes, so is it just the nightly? Or should I re-flash it. (I've sbf'ed like 50 times this week because I forget to make nandroids.) I do have hexen on my sd card worst case. Anyway. What do you guys/gals think?

Again, for future reference, don't take the builds from rom manager, they're Droid 2 versions. Not global.

Avoiding double posting: I just noticed, for some silly reason, clockwork recovery 4.0.0.5 stuck in cm from flashing it while on MIUI. I'm guessing it's just an unintended side effect switching roms through backups.

Been following this thread for a while, I'm really excited to see CM7 almost done for the D2G and I can't wait to get it on my phone. The only thing holding me back right now is the lack of bluetooth for this device using CM7. Are there any other GB ROMs for D2G where we could grab the BT module from?

It may help but no guarantee that it will...
The Libs that are only Unit specific might help but some libs that are written for BLUR may not even work in CM. Modules and some Java might help from OTA but all of these files are interdependent and must talk to each other in the same way as expected. Add to it that the GB release might have changes to the Kernel that breaks things in CM or require changes to things we already conclude are working...

It might be nice to have an OTA to look at and draw from but there is no guarantee that having it is going to solve anything...It might, or Might not!
NOW if the OTA has the ability to unlock the bootloader all the problems we have are history as well as the problems we might have once we try to get IC on the phone! Then it will just be a matter of creating a Kernel that does things the way we want them done as opposed to tweaking the code to work in the way the Kernel from Moto Demands!

I just flashed nightly build for 8/16 and I'm paired to my Motorola S9 HD Stereo headset. Works great.
My Motorola EQ5 bluetooth speaker works too! I guess my D2G will be running Gingerbread for now!dancedroid

Reason: CDMA for 3G data and local calls (private), GSM for all other calls (business).
I'm switching it 20 times per day - it's very convenient when it works :icon_ banana:

Hey guys, first time flashing a ROM, had a quick question about CM7. I read somewhere that once CM7 is flashed that the phone won't charge while it's off. Does this mean that if your battery ever reaches 0% then you need to reflash to charge?

I might be overthinking this, but it's a pretty important thing for me to know. I'm in a lot of situations when I don't have access to a charger overnight and if it's going to be a lot of work if I'm in this situation, I'm gonna pass on this one.

It charges while off if you just tell it to power down while on charger. Otherwise, it should boot up anyways even when drained to 0, if you stick it on a charger. D1 did that, so this should be fine.

Also, after I install the nightly from zip, do I install the gapps from zip right after and then reboot or do I do another data clear? I've heard that I should clear data again after install.

There's a D2 BT problem? I'm on #40 and use my BT daily.

Edit: Nevermind you were probably talking about BT voice dial.
