[D1-MIUI Changelog]

Finally figured out a band-aid fix to the network location issue on v3.1.

I went ahead and did a full wipe and flashed Sapphire, booted up, logged in, synced up, hit recovery and flashed MIUI over without a wipe.

Now when I select Network Location on/off I get the accept/decline dialog box and Network Location works flawlessly, but my Launcher crashes upon reboot. I guess it's the lesser evil (launcher would crash anyways upon removing from the dock).

Can someone who has flashed this v3.1 please do me a huge favor.

Check VM heap size. Go to root explorer, /system/build.prop...view as text...scroll down to the line that contains VM heap size and please let me know the value shown in 3.1. Mine is v2 and the heap size is 40m.

40 seems to be the answer.

it.
dalvik.vm.heapsize=40m

Not a stupid question.

The key is DON'T UNZIP. If you ever want to edit an update.zip, open the zip in 7-Zip or WinRAR without unzipping/extracting the file and delete the files you don't want to flash.

You can also add files that you DO want to flash.

This is the method I used to create the AllInOne fixes update for Zen's V2.

Awesome. Thanks for the help.

I have figured out the solution to my Framework problems. It all has to do with the contact data. I wiped contact data, and poof it works great now. The only other problem I am having is normally in a rom when I first start facebook I choose to sync only with current contacts so I can have my contacts pictures sync up. Now when I do that in this rom it adds all of my facebook friends to my contact list (or at least the ones listed in facebook phonebook, which I hate that new facebook feature btw). I don't want this to happen I want this list to just be my google contacts not my facebook ones too.

It isn't a huge deal I just won't sync it up anymore. And maybe this is a facebook problem and not a MIUI problem I don't know for sure I just know I don't recall it happening with my other roms.

I appreciate all the help form the op on this and all you other helpful people!

Thank you!

Metick? Im curious in the changelog...where was heapsize changed? I have v2 and it also has

dalvik.vm.heapsize=40m

If 3.1 has the same...where exactly was it changed?

Also...another thing I noticed since dalvik cache was brought up. In v2 (and Im assuming 3.1 as well) I have 2 dalvik cache folders in 2 different locations.

/data/dalvik cache

/cache/dalvik cache

So...when I wipe dalvik every now and then in terminal...just be sure I wipe both and reboot.

+1 on the "contacts only" fb sync. It doesnt work...it syncs ALL fb friends regardless of if you select "only those in contacts" or "all" You just have to go into your contacts list and swipe the contacts you want to remove to the right...the delete icon pops up...its pretty quick to delete contacts.

I dont even bother with sync fb friends. If I talk to them regularly...you have their number already. And sometimes people change phone numbers and dont update their fb account...so you dont have the correct number anyway. Its a flawed process regardless of whether the fb sync feature on this rom works or not.

Yeah I know...I just like the profile pic to be set as the contacts picture. Like I said it isn't a huge deal to me, but may be to somebody.

Edit: One more unreated thing. What does toggling the cpu button on and off do exactly? You know the one on the bottom of the notifications...

yeah...I agree. I dont have pics in my contacts either. I would like to..but just going to use a spy cam to snap pics of my friends when they least suspect, then use that for their contact icon. lol

One of my friends got all of his contacts to make the weirdest face they can possibly make and took pictures of them. Also...if you feel like spending the time (if you dont have 900 fb friends), you can go to their profiles and save a pic from their photos to your computer...crop it, and send it to your phone...manually set their pic in there. That would take forever though.

v2 = 40
v3 = 24
v3.1 = 40

If all you are interested in is the pics, use free app syncmypix from market, works great.

So what you're saying is that at this juncture the only way to get this ROM to work properly is to install on top of another ROM.

::sigh::

I guess I'm going to be re-alphabetizing my home screen apps yet again.

I'm still on V2 until *228 works and then ill worry bout it. Things are damn stable for me and I don't see a need for any other touches till update prl and meid.. then ill be happy. I don't even mind the Chinese left in some places. It doesn't effect my usage.

Smart man.

There are a couple neat changes about v3, the main one being when you long press the home button to see recent applications, the ones that are actually still open have a green glow around them.

But at this point it seems like to install v3 and have network locations work you have to follow the same installation procedure as you did for v2 (install over another ROM).
