Had this phone since November but just found these forums. A lot of useful info and app suggestions, also I really enjoy all the "2.1" threads those are just hilarious. I do love this phone but Jesus Christ it makes horrible phone calls.

Welcome! Your observations about the quality of this forum are correct.

I know this is an awesome device. I suggest, however, that if you wish to call Jesus, prayer is a better avenue. He has a direct line for communication!

I agree that first and foremost the device is a phone. I've not had any problems with dropping calls or poor call quality. I was with VZW for 7 years and had great service. In December of 08, I purchased an iPhone which required me to switch to AT&T. What a mistake!
I dropped more calls in 7 months, could not get email, txt, or call because of system overload, and really bad 3G.

I contacted AT&T customer service a significant number of times complaining and said the device is a PHONE. If it does not work it has no value. They tried several things (reset, new sim card) but nothing worked. The day I dropped two parties on a conference call in Charlotte NC was the last straw. They agreed and left me out of my contract without paying an early termination fee.

So, now I'm back to VZW and Droid.

Just got my Droid this week. Insert Peter Griffin YEAAAAAAAH! Had an issue with BW only displaying in the smaller format but a quick uninstall/reinstall took care of the problem. Love this device!

Just got my Droid today (been locked into an ATT contract that expired yesterday). So far I'm loving it. I had an HTC 8525, loved it but so far, Droid's SO much better.

Can't wait to fully explore all the possibilities w/ this phone

I had an LG glimmer through Alltel, which had an unfortunate drunken run-in with a toilet. Since my Alltel store was turning to Verizon, I switched to Verizon and the best phone they offered, the Motorola Droid. I'm excited to read on here and find out all of the amazing things my beautiful Droid can do!

Hey Guys. New to the forum, but not new to smartphones. My Droid will be arriving in a few days and I wanted to get a jump on knowing everything I can and can't do with it since this will be my first Android-based phone. My previous phones include...
T-Mobile Dash (original and 3G)
Samsung Blackjack
LG Incitea
and my current one, AT&T Tilt.

My future plans include getting a HTC Touch Pro2, as it is the successor to the Tilt. I hope I can contribute as much I plan to learn here. thanks

My name is Shawn and I have been a Doidaholic for 2 days now. My iPhone died a few days ago only 3 weeks before my contract was up. Phone was out of warranty and wasn't planning on sticking with AT&T much longer and certainly not another 2 years. I bought the Droid on a 1 year contract and figured I'd try something new. So far I love it!! It has it's flaws, but so does the iPhone. Either of them could fix most issues with software. Sad thing is the Droid will probably get the fixes before Apple gets around to theirs. None the less, I'm still a huge iPhone fan and it's the reason why I sign only a 1 year in anticipation to the iPhone coming to Verizon within the next year. Who knows, Droid may win me over all together especially as newer version come out. Look forward to learning alot around here.

Welcome to everyone , I got my Droid in Dec.. Had SOME issues with it, leading to replacements. However I still LOVE IT!!!
