New Blackberry Refugee
Scenario: A small cold harshly lit tiled room with chairs lined up in a semi-circle.
George stands up and looks around to the small crowd sitting in cold metal folding chairs and sheepishly speaks: “Hi. My name is George. “
Small audience replies in unison: “Hi, George.”
George continues: “I am a Crackberry addict and I need help. Sure, at first it was a lot of fun, and seemed to fulfill all of my PDA needs. But then you start hearing about this thing called a Droid and start to wonder how much better things could be. Terrific screen resolution, much faster browsing speeds, lots and lots of cool apps, a real GPS, I am a Verizon sucker so they wanted to get their pound of flesh for the Navigator service . . . no way!”
Tears starting to well up in his eyes, George then pronounces: “Two days ago, I, ah, I, I, er, dumped my BB Curve and got a Droid and I’m scared! So much to learn. So much to learn. And that's my story.”
George sits down slowly, cradling his face in the palms of his hands. Almost inaudibly, we hear him say under his breath: “I need help.”
At first the folk in the room sit silently. Someone named "Ted", and then a "Sue", approach George and gently pat him on his slouched shoulders and whisper: “It’ll be alright. It’ll be OK.”
