Downgrade to 902 - No app or data loss

That's normal. That's how recovery works. And yes, it was updated in ics with a new icon.

Used the script yesterday and it works very well. As always, read everything in the OP and follow instructions. Thanks SamuriHL!

Just so everyone in this thread is aware, it is my intention to leave the Bionic community in the near future. I didn't come to this decision lightly, but, quite frankly I've *****ed about locked bootloaders since day 1. I feel that those who are strongly opposed to locked bootloaders should put their money where their mouth is. Given that my original Bionic died and the replacement I have has a crappy screen, I feel it is time for me to move to a new device and show my support for unlockable bootloaders. I will be getting a developer Galaxy S3 once it's released by Samsung. I haven't left yet, so, I will be supporting the script for now, but, I just wanted to prepare everyone that the day is coming soon. I'll have to relearn a lot of things, but, I'll have a device that I can fully control without worrying about "OMG can I get back on the OTA path?!?!??!!". I've enjoyed the Bionic and I ESPECIALLY love this community which is why I released my script to try to help out where I could. I will be checking up on this community once I get the S3 for sure.

I've only been here a few days, but I certainly appreciate all the work you and others have done for the Bionic forum. I don't blame you for wanting to have a phone you can fully make your own... BTW, how do I get back on the OTA path from the leaked ICS?...

I'm not gone yet. The s3 developer version isn't out yet. But when it is I'm ordering one. Verizon needs to wake up and realize locked bootloaders aren't good. I'm doing my part and supporting unlock able phones with my money.

Don't blame you one bit. I'd do the same thing if I had the cash. Thanks, though, for the awesome work. :hail:

From what I've heard, they have heard us loud and clear about the locked bootloaders and it will eventually end. Part of it was a push on Verizon's part with the incentive that Motorola remain the "Masters of all things Droid", but this has eventually become irrelevant as Android has swept up the smart phone community in a widespread lineup that Droid is now a much smaller part of.
But keep in mind that when they do eliminate the locked bootloaders, expect something else such as an operations log that can record root and system modifications so that they can insure their warranties are verified.

I hope you consider returning to the Motorola community when we are finally clear of this roadblock.

If the 232 becomes the OTA (assuming you are on 232), then you will remain on the OTA path. However, if another version becomes OTA, then you will have to flash back to the latest FXZ (902 currently). Some are experiencing volume management issues which leads me to believe that this is not the last build we will see before OTA.

Edit: Flashing would be the procedure if the OP method isn't used. I have not done it myself and didn't know it was possible before this thread.

I may. I've always been a moto fan. Generally love the build quality of the hardware for the most part. But, this locked bootloader nonsense really has to go. If I buy my phone outright and non-subsidized, then they have no right whatsoever to lock it down and install their crapware on it IMO. As long as my phone doesn't break their network, I see no issue with being able to do whatever I want to my phone. Moto doesn't allow it and the promises they've made about unlocking the bootloaders have been nothing but smoke and mirrors. The latest with the Atrix HD is going to end up no different. "Oh yea we're 'planning' on unlocking that". I call BS. They SAY that as a marketing gimmick to sell more phones to suckers who buy into the line that it'll change. Sorry, but, until it does and I see it with my own eyes, I won't believe it and won't buy another Moto phone. It's just that simple. Can't complain about something if you're not willing to do something about it. In this case, I am.

You replied to a joke. ;)

After reading all 72 pages of this thread, I want to thank SamuriHL and all the others who have contributed. Tried lots of ROMs on my OG and still running GB19 on it at 1.25Gh. Tried to install .2233 leak on my Bionic after deleting SafeStrap but never got 3G/4G so FXZd back to .902 and OTAd .905. Then watched leak after leak appear. Have been waiting to see if another leak will update .232, but am finally ready to dive back in. Plan to use your script if newer version leak and worry about official OTA when it finally drops. I see that the Rzr/Rzr Max OTA needs another update to fix stuff.
Science may be a structured logical discipline but it is still mostly imagination and magic...

Hey if im on ics 2231..having some issues with it...how do I revert back to. 902 or. 905 to then install the more recent ics update....??
Can I just download the. 902 or. 905 file then write it to the bionic via the moto file that hooks up to the pc. Ive done it many of times with droid x...cant remeber the name of the file....lol. Not at home right now...thanks for the help!!
