Downgrade to 902 - No app or data loss

Even the new version could allow you to go back to 905 with no data loss and stay there if you REALLY want to (it doesn't currently as I removed some of the flashes that aren't necessary for simply doing an upgrade) but that's foolish. It was foolish in the old script for the same reason, as well. The ONLY reason to go from ICS to any form of GB with no data loss is so you can then run a new update. Going to any form of GB was always a temporary thing with my script. The only build you can't go back to a working 905 from at this point is 235 or higher. If you're 232 you COULD do what you're asking, but, why? Why would anyone want to try to have ICS system data on a GB build? That's insane.
Please don't misunderstand me. I am on Bionic 905 currently, and have in the past tried ICS 232. I used the original Samurai to get back to 902 because I have having issues regarding tethering. Keeping my data when I returned was great. I even went from 905 to the unofficial CM9 build, but due to not having webtop or HDMI abilitity, I went back to 902, then 905. Once on 905, I boot strapped and restored my 905 back up, and was golden. Samurai program rocks! What I am trying to say is that because my bionic as the GSM band unlock, uses wifi tether, has the unthrottle mod, and the webtop hack, in some of the ICS builds, some of these functions are non-functional. I just wanted to be able to try out ICS builds to see if I can keep all of my current mod ability, and if not, return back to the GB builds where I know all of that works.

I can understand where you're coming from. I really do. I just think that it's an incredibly bad idea. And you definitely don't want to go to 235 or above if that's your goal cause once you do, you can never go back to GB. But leaving the system data in tact from an ICS build is just really playing with fire. People have corrupted their ICS builds by trying to restore GB data into an ICS build. The reverse is definitely true. I myself screwed up my phone trying it (by accident during the development of the RSD method) so bad I had to reinstall ICS from scratch. I completely understand your intention. If you REALLY need that functionality, you can just use one of the myriad of 905 No Data Loss scripts XML files kicking around for RSD. I have one if you really want it. You would just run it in RSD to return you to 905. Not safe but if that's what you need it's possible. And very easy.

I'm good now, as I understand a lot more thanks to the information that was shared. I will just stay on my modded 905, until I get more info on any new ICS builds and that mods that can be implemented on them. If the ICS build I am interested in can be fxz'd back to GB, then I will use Samurai to get to the build. If the build doesn't work for me, and can be fxd's back to GB, then I will use the Samurai 905 fxz, then once back, use my boot strap to restore my 905 back up. Thanks for you hard work and taking the time to answer by questions.

That's a fine process right there. Restoring the nandroid should work great. Like I said, you won't be able to test any builds above 232. 235+ all have new security that disallow going back to a working 905 build. Even with the nandroid you'd be stuck. So you may want to hang out on 905 until an OTA build is released for ICS and then find out if your mods work on that before making the jump. Cause once you do, it's a one way trip.

Samuri...
Rock on bro....this new RSD process (script) works great...no issues at all. This should make things easier for you to keep viable for the foreseable future. Thank you for all that you do for the Bionic community...looking forward to future updates.

PS...took the plunge....now on .235 with the rest of ya.....no more GB....but who wants to be on GB either....this runs and looks sooo much better regardless of whether i get another update!!!

I am trying hard to keep up with the latest and break out of my noobiness. So please excuse the dumbness of my question! Using your method, I am on .235 since yesterday. Today I Unzipped the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic(PATCH).zip to my desktop, allowed it to ovewrite files. Checked the hash and i'm good. Does all this mean I'm ready for the next leak or do I need to flash my phone again?:hail::hail:

If ur on .235 ur as far as u can go there are no more leaks currently an u can't go back to GB the script will be updated so u can move forward once I get my hands on the ICS fxz I will create a new fxz to get people back to GB an create an ICS/GB hybrid with weptop 2.0 an 3.0 options on both ICS an GB an anything else people ask for

"NOTE: When RSD is flashing, an error will be thrown in the last step, RSD will quit, and your phone will remain in AP Fastboot. This is desired. Leave your phone in AP Fastboot and go to the next step in the script." How do I go on to the next step? I have not started the procedure yet, just wanting to make sure that I have all bases covered before I start.

This is correct. I will update my script if and when a new leak is released to handle it for you like we do all the other updates. Once the script is updated and some of the brave testers make sure it works (including myself) I'll post a new patch that will take care of the new update for everyone. I also have a mini-fxz for 235 that I may decide to post at some point for those who get themselves into trouble. I can't promise it'll fix every case but it should get you back to a point where you can reapply the 235 update in most cases. I just haven't had a chance to put that in yet. And I may hold off for now until it's needed so as not to inundate people with updates.

Sure no problem. When the RSD flashing finishes, it will throw a small error and then close. The script will tell you to press any key to continue, and when you do you'll go back to the menu where you can select the next option which will show the recovery steps. Don't touch the phone until you're looking at the recovery steps and it'll tell you exactly what to do to get into recovery from where you are and how to apply the update you're trying to apply.

Thanks Samuri

Thanks. I love all of the work that you do on here. Thanks to you and your help my Bionic is like a new phone. I am currently on 2233 and want to move forward to 232. Not ready to go on to 235. I guess I am going to finally root this thing after updating and then use TIBU to backup. Sooner or later I want to get this thing back to factory stock and see if I can finally use the update device to get an OTA update. This is the phone that you and I talked about a while back that has never been able to get an OTA update. I don't mind side loading, just don't always have the time. You and some of the others like SargentMajorD and Timmy10Shoes and many others who's names I don't recall make this stuff fun. Thanks for all of your hard work. Wish me luck, as soon as the phone gets completely charged it on to 232.

Hey guys,

I got everything installed fine and dandy, but I only have one issue, which may or may not be related, but Facebook and some browser pages will trigger the synthesized voice and will begin r,leading the site to me. Am I missing something, or what? I don't exactly enjoy the voice.

Thanks
CC

Ran Samuri's house of Bionic script. I am now on 232. Loving it so far. Only issues I had was when going into Play Store different number of apps each time. Multiple reboots seems to have cured that. And missing icons on my home screen. Easy enough to fix. Thanks Samurai.
