[APPS] Droid X/2 Overclock App - Easy & Noob friendly ;)

Great application! Right price!
I'm using the extras.
The most "fun" part I'm still not using. Waiting a new release that recognizes my Brazilian A953 - as already communicated to jrummy.
Congratulations!

Anyone have any issues with the profiles? I set it to 400/400 when screens off but when I unlock it it stays at 400. Any suggestions? Running liberty 1.5.

This compatible with the Droid 2 Global model?

Edit: better question...what would be a better choice for the D2G? Droid Overclock or SetCPU?

This would probably be a better choice. I'm still trying to figure out the profiles issue think I might just emaiil jrummy.

Edit: you need something like this you can't overclock d2 or x with setcpu

I also tried this on my D2Global and was not able to set CPU speed on the fly. Jrummy told me that feature is not yet set.

So how would one change the CPU speed in D2G? Do you change it and then reboot? I am not comfortable doing that, seeing that others have had boot-up problems with applying the change at boot.

I finally uninstalled it but would like to reinstall and use it once I understand more about it.

When you open the app choose set frequency and start with medium voltage I would say and start low like 1.2 Max then go back and do set scaling and set it for on demand 1200 Max 400 minimum and don't choose set on boot. That would be my suggestion.

Thanks bje1982, I will try that. I am on vacation til the end of the week and cannot afford messing with it yet. If I lose control of it and can't use it, that would suck, no? Once I am home and can access anything I might need, I will try again.

I understand if I load a different ROM, it should work with the D2G but I am not ready to change ROMs yet.

I would set a 'screen on' profile for back to your desired clock speed and increase it's priority over the screen off rule. That solved the same problem for me - Apex 1.4 on Droid X.

Thank you I didn't even think of that. Working great now. Great app loving my liberty.!

The Droid 2 Global is still not supported for Overclocking. Something about the bootloader being different.

I'm not savvy enough to know what all that is but I will try and wait patiently and maybe someday they will work it out.

Can anyone point me to an explanation of the bootloader and its differences? What makes that one so "special"?

Thanks.

I have an OG Droid and I am running Steel Droid 5.5 with RZK LV 250-1000 kernel and Overclock keeps resetting back to 250 on the Max scale after I set it to 1000. It just wont stay at 1000. I had to uninstall it. I was previously running Steel Droid 5.2 with same RZK kernel and Overclock ran just fine. Any way to correct this as I would like to use what I payed for. Thanks.

Can someone help me w fast but reliable settings for this app. I'm running liberty with Droid x overclock

Your settings are going to be different than anyone elses because the processor in your phone iis slightly different than mine is. The only way to set yours up is through trial and error on your part.

I'm running this on my Droid X, and I'm not having problems with hanging or freezing etc. However, the APP itself is misbehaving, in that with tremendous frequency it is taking over half the CPU of the phone. Whatever benefit comes of overclocking will undoubtedly be lost if the overclocking app hogs the CPU. What could cause this--it's the only app I now have that does this? Also, my battery life is now poor, whereas when I first used the app it was pretty good. I'm running at a max of 1200, but at lower voltage than even the lowest preset. Also, the app seems to re-start whenever the device wakes up--I gather this because it announces it's "super user" status upon device wakeup. If that's the case, then I am not benefiting from the app like I should be, because it is set to use very low voltage when the CPU demand is low, such as when the screen is off.
