Make sure you have Superuser installed. If it's installed, get Metamorph from the market, run it, and it should ask for root. If it does and it says root denied you aren't rooted. If it runs fine, close it and then open the Superuser ninja and see if Metamorph is listed. If it's not there's a problem. If there is, you have an issue with Drocap2Ok, I'm having trouble with this. I installed EasyRoot, rebooted, and it "says" I'm rooted. But using dropcap2 I get an error message "failed to execute dropcap2." Also when I go into Terminal, and enter "su" it says access denied. I get the feeling I'm NOT rooted. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
I had the same error. Not sure what it means, but i don't use the program anyway so it doesn't really matter to me. After running Metamorph, check the ninja and see if it now has Metamorph listed under super user permissions. It's not you have a bigger problem. If it is, then the problem was with the other program(s).Ok, thank you for helping me with this.
I have Superuser Ninja, is that the one you're talking about? I installed Metamorph, and when I go to "Start Checks" it says something like "Some files could not be set extracted and set up. Make sure you have enough free space." So I suppose I have a problem.
I plan on just waiting for the offical 2.2 update to be rolled out to me, i dont want to mess up when updating manually. So i will just wait. So if i rooted now then i will still get the OTA 2.2 update
Sorry, but I'm not 100% sure if you will receive the 2.2 OTA update if you root right now. I believe you will still get it, but it will cause you to lose root. However if you install a custom ROM once you are rooted, some ROMs disable any OTA updates from coming through. On the other hand, if you root now and install a custom ROM, chances are your ROM *will* be built from 2.2 Froyo and... dare I say... possibly even MORE stable. At least that's what I have found. I updated manually, rooted a week later and can't believe I didn't do it sooner......
If you want 2.2 right now, I would advise you to manually update! The website link I provided has very simple step by step instructions that are hard to mess up, but I understand your concern. It seems to still be unknown when 2.2 will be pushed out to the Droid 1...
So I manually updated to 2.2 and it worked. So now am I safe to use easyroot? Or should I need to know anything else before I do it? Just want to root for wifi tether. Don't really want custom rom.
In that case, I'd suggest if you really want to root you follow the method in this video.Nothing is listed in Superuser Ninja... I guess I'm out. LOL

Once you have that, flash in any ROM you want.
I read all 15 pages and have some questions I am sorry if I am asking something that was already answered.
I want to root my phone to install UD 6.0.0 ROM and use the Red Glass theme and that is all.
1. If I root my phone will I overclock my phone or will it only do that if I download a App to do so?
2. How do I back up my phone in case something should go wrong/does this app do it for me?
3. Can I install UD 6.0 from this app's easy ROM feature?
4. Will my contacts, music, and current apps from the market place be deleted by doing this?
Thank you all for any and all help and all previous posts. I would like to call myself a geek but when it comes to anything to do with hacking my droid I am LOST and dont want to brick an expensive(to me) phone.
