Froyo Release Thread

Is anyone else not able to reboot into clockworkmod? I can reboot, but if I hold the X button down, I get a boot loop with the motorola logo. I tried rebooting through rom manager also with no luck. I am rooted an have installed froyo sucessfully. I am trying to create a backup but its not working. Can anyone help me out?

This is what I did (except I added a "-froyo" on to my directory name so I can easily see it in the list of backups), and it worked ok for me.

Once you have that dir in clockworkmod/backup, what are you doing to install it? I booted into clockwork recovery, wiped cache 3x, wiped data 3x, then did a nandroid -> restore -> <that folder>.... and it worked ok.

I tried exactly what you described. That's what makes it so bizarre. I'm trying SPRecovery again now though.

You are using the spr specific download, right? The one with the other name? And not to be overly redundant, but the folder you are selecting is the one with the boot image and other files contained directly within and no other folders in between?

SPRecovery did not work. I am stuck at the Motorola Logo boot loop...suggestions?

did you ever get to install the nandroid? or did it get stuck the first time you tried to boot into recovery?

Curious... anyone experiencing unsuccessful downloads with the default Browser? ... works with Skyfire but can't seem to do it with the Browser... flash is working incredibly though...:)

It installed, but when I rebooted my phone it gets stuck in a loop at the Motorola logo. Keeps rebooting at that phase.

Now that that 2.2 has been released for the rooted phones , when can we stock users expect the full OTA release ? I have no intentions of rooting my phone . I'm not experienced in doing it , so I'm not going to attempt it . I wish I was , it sounds like it's so much better , but I digress . Anyway , any info on a standard public OTA or a release for non-rooted phones , which is how I got 2.1 would be great ! I love this site

An OTA update from Moot/VZW is a few months out at least. Source has not even been pushed out by Google yet.

as for seeing as 2.2 like what got you to 2.1 I would not count on seeing that ever. the files being used to get this Froyo running are extremely sensitive and will not be posted like we saw on 2.1 is my guess from some conversations I've had with some of the devs that are working on this. The last SBF that got leaked and posted a huge uproar at Moto.

Ok. I flashed the rom. And tried booting into recovery and it wouldn't go. Should I reflash using rom manager or what? I need recovery. It says my phone has it too?

well, eqinox is having trouble rebooting into spr, so it looks like people are having trouble all around...

Others have used Rom Manager to switch back to spr from cw and had success, but equinox is in the middle of that, although he was able to boot up cw. anyway, he's having trouble and we are trying to get to the bottom of it.

I had to 'Flash Alternate Recovery' twice, then 'Flash Clockwork Recovery' in order to get Clockworks Recovery back.

Its been covered in this thread somewhere.

Installed. Now uninstalled. I got spammed with "App Launcher" FC's all the time. I used SP recovery and installed it as a backup. Do I need to do a full-on flash?

You don't have to root your phone to load 2.2. I did it without rooting. I download SPRecovery and installed it with RSD Lite. After that I ran SPRecovery, downloaded my files for 2.2, copied some files into the Nandroid folder and then did recovery.

That sounds real simple but I just completed it and it took me all day. But I am running 2.2 and I am not rooted. It can be done and it isn't that hard in retrospect. Thanks to all my friends in this forum for helping me at various times, it is very much appreciated. :)

Congrats Hook!!! And thats funny, I never really thoguth about it like that: If coming from stock 2.1, install SP Recovery and u dont have to have root installed. If its not included in the ROM already u wont have it.

Ok I'll try doing that. If I try booting into recover and it doesn't work, can I do a battery pull and then boot up regularly? I don't wanna get stuck :/
