Froyo Release Thread

SPRecovery did not work. I am stuck at the Motorola Logo boot loop...suggestions?

did you ever get to install the nandroid? or did it get stuck the first time you tried to boot into recovery?

It installed, but when I rebooted my phone it gets stuck in a loop at the Motorola logo. Keeps rebooting at that phase.

I'd battery pull personally, and maybe let it sit there for a minute or two.

I've had a boot loop issue that resolved itself after letting it "cool down."

If you can't boot up the rom OR get it into recovery, I don't want to give any advice where I don't have the experience.

Contact the rescue squad, I guess. There is always RSDlite, but I would definitely get some second opinions from someone more prestigious than myself.

Let it sit for a few after a battery pull and try again is my best advice. I've never switched back and forth from recovery to recovery like that.

Now that that 2.2 has been released for the rooted phones , when can we stock users expect the full OTA release ? I have no intentions of rooting my phone . I'm not experienced in doing it , so I'm not going to attempt it . I wish I was , it sounds like it's so much better , but I digress . Anyway , any info on a standard public OTA or a release for non-rooted phones , which is how I got 2.1 would be great ! I love this site

You don't have to root your phone to load 2.2. I did it without rooting. I download SPRecovery and installed it with RSD Lite. After that I ran SPRecovery, downloaded my files for 2.2, copied some files into the Nandroid folder and then did recovery.

That sounds real simple but I just completed it and it took me all day. But I am running 2.2 and I am not rooted. It can be done and it isn't that hard in retrospect. Thanks to all my friends in this forum for helping me at various times, it is very much appreciated. :)

Congrats Hook!!! And thats funny, I never really thoguth about it like that: If coming from stock 2.1, install SP Recovery and u dont have to have root installed. If its not included in the ROM already u wont have it.

here is an easy to follow HOW To if yo u want to try it all explained in plain english so there is no confusion.

Curious... anyone experiencing unsuccessful downloads with the default Browser? ... works with Skyfire but can't seem to do it with the Browser... flash is working incredibly though...:)

No download issues here. And overall, the browser feels much faster than on 2.1.

will this be posted up on rom manager? I bought that app to avoid any big headaches since it seems to make switching roms a breeze. (at least for me) Any chance this will be there or is there? I've checked but haven't seen it yet. Might just have to wait for pete to post up his BB froyo rom.. i'm already running 1.1 and am completely satisfied. Would just like to check out the flash more then anything else...

Is anyone else not able to reboot into clockworkmod? I can reboot, but if I hold the X button down, I get a boot loop with the motorola logo. I tried rebooting through rom manager also with no luck. I am rooted an have installed froyo sucessfully. I am trying to create a backup but its not working. Can anyone help me out?

well, eqinox is having trouble rebooting into spr, so it looks like people are having trouble all around...

Others have used Rom Manager to switch back to spr from cw and had success, but equinox is in the middle of that, although he was able to boot up cw. anyway, he's having trouble and we are trying to get to the bottom of it.

Thanks c0y0te. I flashed SPR and got it to boot into recovery. I'm loving froyo. There are a few apps not working, but I'm sure they'll get worked out soon.

Its crazy how I posted on here at 9:30 this morning on page 15, 30 minutes after this thread was posted, and now its 6:40pm, and its 180 pages long.......

Does your guyses browser seem laggy when scrolling or zooming in...Flash definitely slows it down...

Yeah, I noticed this too. I also noticed that even if you disable flash (or make it on-demand), scrolling/zooming is still a tad slower than Bugless Beast 1.1.

well I'm glad somebody has had success.

I'm trying to figure out how some people have different issues with different recovery images.

CW always worked flawlessly for every phone i've put it on. The thought that a nandroid backup could interfere with the recovery partition makes me uneasy.

Just curious, did you open Rom Manager the first time you booted froyo and flash clockwork before you tried to boot it into recovery again?
