GOODBYE Thunderbolt - After 1 week of constant battery drainage, i gave up

Mine is at 0% right now lol. Are you talking about the power widget, which has bluetooth, wifi, refresh etc on it? I was using that, but at 33% the battery flies too.

There is the big power widget, but there is also just a 1x1 brightness widget. I think it is under the "Browse all HTC Widgets"

Returned the TB, paid restocking, and still have my 4g contract!!!!

Does this mean that since you are no longer an Android owner, you won't be on the message boards any longer? ;) (I kid... I kid!)

BTW: It just shows "4G internet access", but up where it sais "Email and Web - Smartphone" which is your Data plan, it makes no mention of 4G/3G access.

Yes. Motorola phones have better battery life than HTC phones why would that change....

This is flat-out incorrect. Had a Droid X and Thunderbolt side-by-side for a couple of weeks. Both with 4"+ screens, both on 3G network, both had identical display settings/brightness, both had the same accounts syncing at the same intervals. On the standard battery for both phones, I had equal battery performance, if not better with my Thunderbolt phones (I had two, one was a Pre-Prod, and then I bought one on release day.)

HTC Thunderbolt Review - Battery, Pricing, Value, & Verdict

According to this review, the Droid X gets double the battery life compared to the Thunderbolt. Is anybody else getting the same or better battery life with a Thunderbolt compared to their old phone? I find that hard to believe.

Since I've had android phones longer than 99.9% of all android users (G1), I will chuckle that off.

LOL! 4g internet access is all that matters, as long as that line is there I'm covered from upcoming rate hikes. I made sure to go over that with their retention department. If you complain enough and say you're taking your business elsewhere, they'll usually cave and give you what you want.

hahaha. I had it longer than 95% of all android users then. Yeah, it was on a Sprint Vogue, but it was still Cupcake:-)

Good know you can get Grand father into a 4G contract even if you return the TB.

Maybe the TB was returned too early tho?
I'm waiting to see what Bionic has in store for us, or at least in-stores in general.

LOL sure it does... when compared to the TBolt on 4G! (Apples to Oranges)

My results were having the same settings but my Tbolt was on 3G. Apples to Apples.

That review would be like me taking a Chevy Malibu and comparing it to a Dodge Charger Hemi and wondering why the Charger only gets 15 miles/gallon compared to the 35 mpg's of the Malibu!

LOL! Nice example.

Leaving GPS enabled does nothing. GPS is only used when an application is open that requires it.
The disclaimer popup when you enable location services implies that gps will be in use to 'collect anonymous location data even when no applications are in use'. And yes, that is freaky. Please do correct me if there is a more correct way to interpret this message.

Location Services is not the same as the GPS Standalone services... GPS is the actual GPS satellite radio, whereas location services uses the Cell Towers to triangulate your location. (This is how I always understood it to be, anyway.)

Nope, you're not wrong. But look at your Battery usage in your settings. I leave my GPS on all the time. Looking at my Battery Manager it says 3% of my usage is from Maps. Nothing else GPS is using.

I suppose it depends on what apps you have but for me 3% isn't anything.

I thought it was either or. I could be wrong then. Anyway GPS doesn't suck up your battery, at least not on my phone.

On 3G actually, my DX still does FAR better than the TB...:(

I wish it was not true, I wish TB was getting 60 hours of constant 4G...but that's not the case. This phone eats your battery alive.
