GPS Outage in East Texas?

My Incredible started working Friday, a little. Even today location works fine one minute then in an instant my position changes to the Pacific Ocean near South America. I hope that this isn't the Fix and that they are still working on resolving this problem.

Yeah, I've been experiencing similar issues in Longview and Kilgore for about a month now. The other Andoidites up at work are having the same issues. Some OG Droid, some X, some rooted, some custom ROM, some completely stock...

I had it this morning all the way to work. But at lunch it was gone. We'll see how it is after work.

Well.... I got nothing all afternoon. I had accuracy down to 6ft this am too. It was good while it lasted.

sorry I've been away. the fix was short lived on my wife's incredible.
She at least now is consistently getting tower triangulation but not GPS.

My GPS (original droid) worked without any manipulation. but yesterday it was flaky again. I had tower location but no GPS so I ran gps status in airplane mode. it locked right away. turned off airplane mode and I still have GPS. Tried the same maneuver on the incredible without luck.

so the "fix" is incomplete

just wanted to update

I keep googling verizon gps outage... I am getting a fwe more hits.... In Nother forum somone mentioned google rolling out an updadte in a month to fix the affected phones.

If so.... What a load of crap. I bet all the iphones are working.... Hows that for a poke in the eye!

I've been having the same problem (coincidentally right after I upgraded to Liberty 2.0.1; so I'm glad to know it wasn't Liberty :)). I called Verizon Tech Support a few days ago. The tech I spoke said there no open in tickets in the Longview-Kilgore-Tyler area. So maybe if everyone were to call Verizon (866-221-4096) they would realize how big the problem is and move a little faster on it.

Also be sure to make clear that it is a GPS problem (i.e. affects any location based app; and no lock can be obtained); not just a Google maps problem.

Many have called. We get sent to second level support where it's blamdd on google and the call is over.

There is no way to open a ticket with google.

We are being screwed by verizon and google.

GPS Outage

Droid X reporting for Duty.

Havent left tyler in month's, havent had gps since beginning of feb. Was having issues even getting location based services, waiting on 2.3 update to roll out. Got fed up and with waiting for 2.3 update and called Verizon.

About 2 calls later, we found the outage ticket they had open with Google. Said "two weeks", so gave it two weeks, called in couple days ago, ticket still open. /shrug

2.3 update supposedly signed by verizon and rolling out on 12th. Last word from Verizon, outage ticket set to be cleared by google "re-honing" their satellites over east texas on the 11th.

So, either tomorrow, or Thursday, i'm going to *228 to update the towers and try to get the 2.3 update and cross my fingers for that to work.

Also, father's droid 2, wife's fascinate, and mother's fascinate can get location based services, but can't lock in. About 5 other co-workers with Droids cannot lock in. Definitely an outage, and definitely hope it's just a matter of "data being entered" to the altell cell towers or "rehoning the sats" and that it will all be fixed sooner rather than later. Free service n' all, so can't claim paying for it and get a credit....
