GPS Outage in East Texas?

droid x

My droid x is still not working. per verizon, google has closed the outage ticket. Mother's fascinate is working perfectly as intended. Only thing verizon can recommend is hard reset/data wipe, and if that doesn't work, replace the phone :O

Waiting for wife to get home to test her fascinate and make sure mine is the only one that fails...

Friend's droid 1 can lock into 11 satellites now, and is working as intended also, in tyler tx.

They are still telling me it’s a Google issue. If you are fed up with Verizon’s recent disregard for the customers in East Texas, take a moment to express you disappointment to the regional president Mr. Danfield. Message

Mine is still very sporadic as well. It will work and then it wont...about that quickly sometimes. I frequent the Brownsboro, Tyler, Bullard, Whitehouse and Jacksonville areas every day. While a little annoying its not something that I'm going to raise hell over.

I actually got a ticket open today and was told they would send an engineer to the area and call me when google was done updating the database. All the info on the web about this problem helped alot. She googled it and included it in the ticket. Was proof enough that there was indeed a problem. My word was not I guess.

Yeah, I had the same problem yesterday. They kept telling me to pull the battery and I kept telling him it was a network issue not a phone issue. I finally had him call the local store manager to verify. Finally said that they were going to escalate the ticket and I would be called back in 24 hours, which didn’t happen. I just cannot believe they are this out of touch with as many people have called in there is no way CS does not have a record of this. Maybe if the regional president gets a few hundred emails, something might get done.

Thanks for that link to the President's email. I'm about to fire off one to him. Also, I trimmed the url and came up with a listing of all their execs. I fired off a message to the other regional guys and the CEO too. Doubt it will do much good though. http://aboutus.vzw.com/leadership/executive/index.html

Is anyone else finding this a bit ridiculous that this is still going on? My local Verizon reps in Tyler have been really rude to me about this. They can't seem to understand why I even care about it. They also can't seem to understand why I don't want to ads ten bucks more a month to my already outrageous bill for their crappy VZ Navigator service.

By the way, interfering with the function of the GPS network is illegal. Everyone should go here and file an FCC complaint: FCC Consumer Complaints .
If enough complaint get filed, they will be investigated and forced to fix the issue. I think the best tack on reporting this is how it disables our ability to place e911 location assisted calls...

I think the main problem here is that CS is so disconnected that no one at the corporate level knows what is going on. The stores don’t care about customer support. They only make money from sales of new phones so they don’t want to deal with existing equipment. I think the only solution is to raise enough fuss that we get the attention of someone high enough to make an impact. I also thought about the E911, not sure if it is effected or not but complaints to the FCC couldn’t hurt. As for VZ navigator, I was given that option also, but why would I pay for a feature that everyone else in the country gets for free.

I just sent tips about this to the teams at Gizmodo and Droid-Life. If enough of us do that, maybe this will get picked up on their blogs. Think how fast this will get fixed then... Any other android sites that might be interested in this?

here at fort hood we have been losing all signal. 3G and rev a. comes and goes as it pleases. never in 12 years of having verizon did I ever not get a signal. I called and they told me a tower was down and they are working on it. Its been about 3 weeks now and the same thing. Central Texas

It was rockin in tyler for a few hours.... But gone again....

I hope that means someone is workin overtomeon saturday toget this fixed.

It is still sporadically working around Tyler. It wasn't working earlier today for me, and I ran some tests and posted screen shots in another forum. Then wilydodger ran off the expert by flaming him. :) Then he came back and I apparently offended him and he left for good.

Now I can't run any more tests because it's actually working for me right now (hate to complain when it's working). But I'm sure it will stop working before long. It always does.

Anyway, if any Verizon techs happen to run across this thread, here ya go. It's too hard to find in the other one because there are so many posts:
