Here's the 5.5.893 update file str8 from Moto. No root necessary.

I downloaded this to my PC too. thanks to Verizon limiting what my Bionic will download and save on purpose. (If you get the download failed message that is the reason.) So I placed the file as directed (unchanged) in my download folder, disconnected from pc, and used stock file manager app to move it to the top level of the SD card.

Did a check for system updates and it worked perfectly! I just followed the instructions to the letter.

Phone did take a few (3-4 maybe) minutes to boot up and load when the update was done but not any longer than normal. And, to be honest it was quicker than with the last OTA I installed on my Droid2. It boots fine now. I was scared a minute...lol... looked like a boot loop but I just had to be patient.

Thanks for sharing this!

Can someone send me a link to the download plz.

Either post #1 of this thread or post #57. But read ALL the posts as there are different files and different ways to install it. Like Speeding Wheels said, the OTA is coming out shortly.

So.. Been using 5.5.893 for two days now and 3g has failed. The 3g icon comes up white but never turns blue, and I have zero data. 4g works perfectly and in test mode I was able to force 1x and it also works (turns blue.).
Anyone else see this problem?

(and yes I know this was done at my own risk)

I had this problem yesterday.... it was resolved when I got up this morning. Maybe VZW is having 3g network issues? I haven't had problems aside from that.

Looking at all the posts, success has been iffy at best. And problems seems to show up a couple of days later. Based on this, and the number of updates AND methods of installation, I'd wait until I see the "I JUST GOT THE OTA UPDATE :icon_ banana:" threads to see if they were able to capture that update and post it here. More likely I'll wait until I get the update OTA myself. I can wait; I'm not having the data drop like others do and I'm using Camera Zoom FX.

My 3g came back out of nowhere last night. Must have only been the VZW network issue, and not this patch. Which is good. End result for me... since updating to 5.5.893 I have a slight improvement in network connections. Goes white to blue faster, and 4g to 3g faster. Also have not had to go airplane mode. Which I was doing about once a day on average.

1839824[/URL]]Anyway, it's now running 5.5.893 and everything seems to be good. I guess I'll know after a few days of usage, whether or not the radio and camera issues are fixed. (Those are the only two issues that have really caused problems for me -- I don't use wired headphones, and I rarely use the internal speaker, so I've not had any of those issues crop up for me.)

I'll post an update after a couple of days...

And, as promised, here' my update... :-)

This patch definitely took care of the constant 4G data-drop. I haven't had to turn on WiFi once since I updated, nor have I had to do the Airplane Mode work-around. The camera definitely feels faster, but it's still not quite as fast as I'd like it... But that's really not a big deal -- it was the data-drop that was driving me absolutely bonkers. I rely on this thing to tell me when work has sent me an e-mail, and with it's data-connection being as spotty as it was, that was really driving me nuts.

And to whomever said there would be an OTA update in a week? Didn't they just say, on Nov. 1, that it would be 30 to 60 days? Have they changed that? Either way, this update was so easy to do, that I'm glad I did it, and I would *not* recommend waiting for the OTA update, unless you're absolutely sure it's just gonna be a week or so...

Later all. Happy DROID'ing. :-)

What has changed is they are lining up soak testers. In the past, when they do that you are only a couple of days away from the soak testers getting it, and then it is only a couple of days after that when it is rolled to the rest of the world. The soak testers will get the final release and Moto will only stop the release if there are major problems with that release. So to answer your question, no nothing officially has changed. It is just an estimate based upon past history. No one really knows for sure except Moto and VZ.

My experience with the leaked version is the same as yours, it rocks and I am very happy. I did it several weeks ago.

Is this update still available. I tried to download but got "this link has expired" Thanks

Bionic update

I took the plunge and updated my bionic with this file. Bionic is awesome now!!! Also, I did not lose root after updating.

Hi, is. 893 still available for download? Thanks

Leaked 5.7.893 Full update (.886 --> .893) - Android Forums

If you are still stock you want the first section, "For stock users on 5.5.886 with no partition modifications...." If you want root, you do step one then step two. If you don't want root or already have you can just start with step two. Don't let the name of the file for the update confuse you...the files are named for the version you are upgrading FROM, not to.

Thanks, but when i click on the link in the original post it says that the link has expired.
