[Home Replacement App] Sweeter Home public Beta is out!!

I really like this home app but I have had 2 power cycles (Droid auto off) in the past 3 hours.
Now all the widgets aren't loading...

Going to power off and back on manually and see it the widget updates come back.

I hope this isn't a sign of things to come, I really like this app.

So why have many of the themes been taken off the "theme market". No themes will ever get updated to work perfectly if they keep getting taken down so they aren't rated. I created one last week and it's no longer there. Because of this there will never be most popular themes and many crappy ones will clutter up what's available. This really needs to be fixed or many people aren't going to use the app. Also, an update feature should exist that keeps the previous dl's and ratings.

I was wondering how to get the phone or dialer to open?
I thought there was a option for it but haven't found it YET.
I would like it to work off of a springboard.

Thanks

THe springboards aren't for opening apps, they open other blocks/trays which can hold apps. So, just create a custom tray and put a shortcut to the phone app into that.

If you want to do that you're going to have to use the Action--Intent tray. And you'll have to know about Android Intents and how to code them in order to do it.

I don't know why but ever since I've stopped editing my theme so much it's definitely gotten more stable but I still find it takes a bit of time to return back to the home screen. I'm also noticing a little lag when running other applications. My phone's not rooted so I can't clear the cache with cache mate.

I noticed that on the theme that comes with a newly installed version of SweetHome it says Dial after you tap on the Call springboard.

When you tap on the word Dial it opens up the phone dialpad.

Thats what I was hoping to do as well.

Anyone know which option I need to choose to get this to work on my screen?

Thanks

Has potential but was quite laggy to the point where I uninstalled it. This is expected with a beta release, though.

Use AnyCut or Better cut in a Custom Tray. Shortcut to an activity and just look for Dialer.

After that, for that tray, make your icons be label only, then make the label color transparent and embeded and locked on the tray options. Now, put that tray over a nice graphic that you want for the dialer button, like in the theme you mention. That way, it is an invisible button over a cool graphic that calls the dialer.

When you see something like that in a theme, and you want to make something similar, just edit that theme and investigate how it was done.

Ugh, yeah I don't know what I deal is maybe I did waaay too much on that theme lol. The battery widgets were just examples of what you could put in the system part. But yeah I think the theme overloaded sweeterhome? Not sure but I made a much simpler theme that lets you enjoy your wallpaper and stuff, it's very "light" and "airy". Just uploaded it onto the server it's Called "SimplyBlissfixed" lol. Tell me if you have problem with that one.

Just got it, looks great, got to get some widgets setup but I like it so far. Nice and simple but functional. Thanks for the work.

Question... once a widget is added (i.e. after installing a theme there are 'add widget' areas) how can you replace the widget you selected with another/different one?? Sorry, probably right in front of me but it's been a long day and my brain is fried right now...

SweeterHome seems to add a GOOG 20+ secs to my boot time (went from ~45-50 secs to ~75, anyone else)??

JonKyu: looking great, runs good. I have one small request if it's possible. The bottom page (currently blank) is it possible to make that page so we can put Shortcuts on??

If you want to change a widget, click on menu, then edit theme. Then, select the widget block, and hit menu/edit. Then, on the widget block edit screen is an area called 'widget select'. just click on that and pick your new widget.

Thanks, I have the vids bookmarked to watch but haven't gotten to them this week (busy week). Hopefully this weekend I'll play around with a few. Thanks again.

No problem.. I've been playing with SH almost non-stop since installing it,and it is an awesome home replacement with tons of possibilities... Also been trolling the forums on the SH site and been picking up tricks and such there.

Yeah, I was just playing around and edited the bottom page to create shortcuts ect. It seams great and powerful, but seams a bit of a clustf*** in the editor... seams like they need to put some work into the editor to make it a bit more friendly.
