I know that. It came from a phone that got the update. My question is can you root a phone running 2.1 official

What happens when OTA comes and you've forced load

Any idea what happens when the OTA knocks at the door? Will it recognize that I am at 2.1 and go away, or, does it give you a choice to say, nah, did it already? Just curious.

Also, I notice someone asked earlier (never seen a response), but once you do the update, should you go delete the "Update" file? I looked in SDCARD root with Astro and the update file is still there.

Never did this before, but is doing it this way completely the same as waiting for the OTA? I really don't want to wait for mine to get pushed.

You will be fine, I was precautious also ... plus according to the new verizon message, the full roll out will take weeks to complete..

well...i'm at the Droid eye after reboot...so I'm prepared to wait as long as it needs to boot up...so far so good

2.1 installed fine here, non rooted droid.

I installed the update and it ran real sluggish with the live wallpapers. rolled back to 2.01 and installed ultimate droid 9.0. having been the first time I rooted, I was highly impressed in how smooth it is. its not hard to do and its worth the effort. especially after clocking.

Just applied the 2.1 update as instructed on this site. No problems at all. You guys are the best. Thanks for all that you do.
