HTC's dual-mode CDMA / GSM Android slider Coming to Verizon

You can expect to see this device around january...........

I expect we will see the droid HD (or what ever it will be called) by HTC long before then. For me that means I'll have to get both :):)

Do you know something that we dont? Like when the incredible hd device will be released?lol

I don't have docs yet so the answer is no (on the record) :icon_ devil:

Meaning?.....

The keyboard is waay to spread out and big. Not to mention, it doesn't even look good. Certainly doesn't go with the front panel, which looks a little Evo-esk

So is this the Droid pro or is that a Motorola?

Motorola is supposed to be making the Droid Pro, not HTC. Hopefully, that rumor is true, and this is not the Droid Pro. If it is, huge disappointment...
droid pro has been confirmed to be a droid 2 world phone

I am not so sure about those rumors. I know the Droid world edition is coming as well as the R2 edition. Though I am not convinced (nor has VZW told me) that the droid "world edition" is going to be labeled the Pro. I was told the Moto is still working on a 1.3 to 1.5 ghz device for this year and it could be the Droid Pro or the Droid X 2. HTC has atleast 2 devices headed to VZW one which has been leaked (Droid HD maybe) by photo already and one I haven't seen yet.

I don't like all the red, in my town with my luck somebody will think I am a blood and shoot me........ However, this looks like it may be my next device. Those keys look light years ahead of the D1 and the D2, and actually seem to have decent spacing. If this thing is as nice as it looks, it's on my consideration list for future devices.

I just played with the Epic and let me tell you. A 4" inscreen and that keyboard was great. I would surely use that as an every day device. Now if it were just on VZW,,,,,I guess thats where Jan. Comes in

Please forgive my ignorance. I thought that the verizon network was only cdma. Does this mean then that the gsm kicks in only when out of the country or would it work on any gsm network in the U.S. or Canada? Does this also solve the browsing while talking issue with cdma phones?

Verizon is CDMA. This has a GSM radio in it for use when customers travel outside the US. Sometimes the GSM radio can be unlocked to work with US carriers (the Verizon Touch Pro 2 could), but sometimes it can't (it also depends on what bands the GSM radio supports). Generally, only one radio can be used at a time, so no, this will not allow a person to use a data connection outside of WiFi while on a CDMA network.

Ok we have already covered the fact that HTC has the Eris and Incredibile which are Droids.

Back on topic.

This looks like a pretty sweet phone. Keyboard layout is nice. A 4" screen is a nice sweet spot in between the 3.7" and 4.3". But that red better not make it to final production. Looks hideous IMO. Makes it look like a toy.

This phone does look cool, but I think my moneys leaning more towards the mysterious evo phone that was leaked a week ago, the look of that phone makes this phone look like another toy, won't know for sure until the specs of both are revealed

I'm an original droid owner and I've owned it for a while now, I was thinking about buying a fascinate later this year but I'm definitely holding out for this. I like having the option for a physical keyboard, I love the screen size, my girlfriend owns an HTC droid and I like SENSE UI much better than MOTOBLUR IMO, and I travel a lot with my job so a dual-band phone would be perfect for me. Plus if the specs on this thing turn out to be true it'll be a great android device especially with a 1.2ghz proc. and hopefully plenty of memory. I just hope they change that red or offer multiple colors or interchangeable colors would be sweet. I can't wait to find out more, for me it's either this or the other unannounced HTC verizon phone from a couple weeks ago that looked kinda like a Nexus and was rumored to be the merge or these may turn out to be the same device, either way my interest is peaked and I'm looking forward to finding out more.

I'm also interested (but I wouldn't say piqued - definition of piqued by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.). If it's a decent phone then I'll use my wife's NE2 upgrade to get it and give her my Droid2. Meanwhile I'm pleased with the D2.
