I'd understand if it was a good indicator or Motorola's future intentions. But I just do not see how it could guarantee anything either way with respect to us seeing JB or not.

Derpaderp indeed. The 247 patch was the first concrete product of all the "unified build" noise. Without the 247 patch the oldest moto that will get jb will probably be the D4

All I asked for was an explanation of the contents of the patch. There's a LOT of insider information on Android forums, much completely useless. Not saying this inside info is useless, just saying I've seen nothing to give it more merit than any other random, "just trust me" comments on online forums.

The patch is to prepare the phone for the update to JB. The same was true for the 905 patch...to prepare for ICS to be installed on top of GB. The exact nature of what the patch contains to aid that upgrade only Moto can say. And no one really cares if you trust us or not....you can either believe it or don't. Doesn't make a bit of difference to me one way or the other. What I do know is that Sarge has provided information that has been accurate that NO ONE else has. Multiple times. Trust is earned, and he's earned it.

OK, total speculation based on previous correct predictions. A decent indicator. But no guarantee either way what so ever. NO technical reason has been brought to my attention this patch means anything for sure. And as I said, no reason 247 or later release with this type patch couldn't come out between 246 and JB.

U also forget that without this patch there is no possible way to apply the JB upgrade they do not have the time to make a 247 patch (it can only be flashed on 905 so they would have to recompile it for 246) an recompile a JB update for 246 because they chose 246 the 6.8.248 engineering build is of no use an they have to get a new one since they were building off of 247 an samurai this would explain why u couldn't find 6.8.248 our support window closes in march 5 months is no where near enough time to make a patch an OS update unless they extend the support window which is slim to none
