Ics soak test has begun!!!!!!!!

Don't give up on JB just yet. There's a lot of confusion surrounding that and Punit Soni said to keep an eye on the update schedule. So, I may have to suck it up and retract my previous statements on no JB if we get 246. In which case, I will happily admit that I had wrong info on that. Right now I can only say...I have no idea.

I'd like an official JB update but if not I guess I'd go to custom ROMs. I actually have no idea what the state of ROMs are for the Bionic. Guess it's time to go check XDA out.

SS3 makes roms REALLY slick now. CM10 is working well afaik. Kexec makes custom kernels possible. I don't rom on the Bionic myself, but, I know others that do and it's been amazing to see the progress in the last week or so.

Dumb question- go easy. I got the update pushed, but it failed. I FXZ'd back to 905, but now the update doesn't appear when I check for updates. I've downloaded the zip that was posted earlier in this thread to my SD card. I'm not rooted. What's the best way to get the update installed?

Downloaded Camo's zip and tried to apply update... got this...

Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check ("/system/bin/loadpreinstalls.sh". Long string............
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted

I defrosted all my apps first. I am rooted with forever root but the only mod I have done is the wifi tether enable.

What to do?

Thanks,
Andy

From my House of Bionic script (ignore the echo...it's just the code used to display it at the right time):

Code:
echo o] Turn off the phone
echo o] While holding volume up and down, press power
echo o] Volume down to Recovery, then press volume up
	echo.
echo o] Wait for the Android icon to show up
echo o] Press volume up and down at the same time
	echo.
echo o] Select 'apply update from sdcard OR external storage'
echo o] Select the Blur_Version zip for %UPDATE_VERSION%
	echo.
echo o] When the update is finished:
echo o] Select 'wipe cache partition' OR 'wipe data/factory reset'
echo o] Select 'reboot system now'
	echo.
echo NOTE: Use the power button to select options in recovery
	echo.
echo WARNING: Selecting 'wipe data/factory reset' WILL wipe your phone.
echo It should only be used by those looking for a fresh start.

Take a trip to the House of Bionic.

You know whats funny...I forgot to defrost apps on TiBu and I was rooted of course, it took the update for me just fine, no issues at all. After it installed I did lose root, but SU was still there, just re-rooted with Razrs Edge, and now I am fully up and running. Could my zip be an issue for others to install with?

Samuri, are you saying I must have done something to my phone that will cause the update.zip from Camo to be uninstallable unless I go the HoB route? Can you be more specific as what I actually have to do to get this working?

Thanks
Andy

Thanks, Samuri. FWIW, I'm mainly a lurker, but appreciate all the information and assistance you provide in this forum.

I wonder if it was the Wifi tether hack that may have done this? The only thing I had done to my phone was Root, and some bloat frozen only, not removed.

So, any of you that have gotten the OTA push, how is the data? Tired of all of the data drops and weak 4G. Really hoping ICS fixes the issues because I don't have the money to drop on a new phone and don't want to lose unlimited by upgrading.

You've got things wrong that cause the update to throw the error 7. Rather than screw around with it trying to figure out what you changed and how to change it back, the House of Bionic will fix it all for you and allow you to install the update. Just read my OP and my FAQ and follow directions. I can't make it any easier than it is. Alternatively you could use the 905 FXZ and go that route but that's rather destructive as it wipes your data.
