Ics soak test has begun!!!!!!!!

You can get it by downloading the HoB 246 support installer. If you run it, you'll get a new folder on your desktop. The update zip is in there. Ignore the other 2 files as they're for HoB use. We have 3 mirrors for it.

It's complicated. They unleashed it early by accident so the soak started for a few hundred people yesterday afternoon. As a result they decided to go the D4 method and OTA it. But they're still taking feedback from soak testers afaik. (They're under NDA and I'm not in that group so I don't know for sure but I hear rumors they're still soliciting feedback.)

It's not open to "pull" yet. So you get it when they push it to you as part of a new batch of updates.

Thanks for the info. Hard to be patient. I've owned my Bionic since the day it came out. I don't dare do leaks as I *need* this for my business and can't afford downtime due to a brick.

Let me say something about the whole "brick" thing. I have more experience in that area than most given my history. Barring doing something so intentionally bad to your phone, I've *NEVER* seen one "bricked". You have to really work at it to brick it. You may get your phone into a "soft brick" situation where yes, it doesn't boot. But that's fixable. Out of the hundreds (thousand +?) users I've supported with the HoB, I've never failed once to get someone back to a working phone. The biggest key is to read, pay attention, and follow directions. People that do that, don't have problems. So I get being cautious, but, the absolute FEAR of "OMGZ PONIES BRICK!" is overstated. Significantly.

I'm a developer in the PC realm. I do understand what you're saying and in normal situations, including a lengthy time where I don't travel, I'd have gone for a leak. But I'm on the road so much, and really don't dare to be out on the road without a phone, or the time to get it working again. I used to be an early adopter of almost anything. But my travel schedule has caused me to become much more conservative. Having said that, if this update were postponed again, seeing as I have a 2 week hiatus in my travel, I was planning on visiting HoB and would have taken you up on your premise.

I can completely understand this (even though I updated to 246 in a camper in the middle of nowhere with nothing but my netbook and bionic [people love that I keep telling that story lol]). I don't blame you for not wanting to risk things while on the road. It's just the brick comment I had to respond to. It's not just you...people are paranoid of "bricking" their phones. VERY rare to see a true brick that's unrecoverable. It's possible, but, it takes effort. If you can boot into AP Fastboot, chances are it can be fixed. Nonetheless, like I said, I get your point of view and why you didn't wanna take the risk. Totally understandable.

Hey now most if the roms, hob and anything else I do is from my company issued laptop and my company issued ATT suv :D

Not fair, I don't own a camper. How in the world would I have pulled that off!

I'd like an official JB update but if not I guess I'd go to custom ROMs. I actually have no idea what the state of ROMs are for the Bionic. Guess it's time to go check XDA out.

Don't give up on JB just yet. There's a lot of confusion surrounding that and Punit Soni said to keep an eye on the update schedule. So, I may have to suck it up and retract my previous statements on no JB if we get 246. In which case, I will happily admit that I had wrong info on that. Right now I can only say...I have no idea.

I'm glad to hear you have a bit of hope for JB on the bionic. Do you think if moto doesn't officially release JB for us they may give a little backdoor support through the skunkworks?
I recall a situation back in the 60's when GM had an official no racing policy but somehow Zora Duntov created the Corvette Grand Sport to take on the Cobra. During the cars debut at Nassau Speed week it had some mechanical problems and much to Corporates surprise many GM design and build engineers just happened to all be having a vacation there that week. A whole team came out of the stands to get the problem solved.
Engineers can take a lot of personal pride in a product long after their bosses are told to move on to something else.
