iPAD ruins Android's chances if you ask me...

No one including Verizon has ever stated that the iPhone is coming to Verizon. NEVER. As a matter of fact Verizon made a specific comment that the rumor was not true.

Do you really think that Android won't power a decent tablet that overcomes many of the iPad's shortcomings by the autumn lead into the X-mas buying season? Do you really want to live in Steve Job's walled garden where you can't have an app unless Steve Jobs says it's OK? You don't want a removable battery? You want proprietary ports instead of USB? You don't want a camera? An SD card slot?

The iPad is cool and Steve Jobs is a marketing genius but he is also a control freak and I don't want to be at the other end of his leash. I like my Droid and I will like my Android tablet when it is ready. In the mean time I have a netbook for travel and a very nice notebook for home and local use. I can wait.

UHH being done dude. google WePad...

Edit: ill just do it for you :) http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives/2010/03/wepad.html

Not too impressed considering how little they talk about watching video on the WePad.

++!

This is what I'm eyeing, though I guess it's been delayed till fall on account of problems with nVidia's Tegra 2 chip.

This tablet looks seriously bad ass.

fair enough, fair enough.
Or surfing the internet for that matter. Or doing anything besides looking at newspapers which I can't thing of a dumber thing to buy a 500 dollar or more device for when I can go to FoxNews, CNN, BBC, etc on the internet.

It says June-July. I'd buy one maybe.

Bittorrent sux bad compared to Usenet. 30 minutes to download DVDs that aren't even on DVD yet.

Google got caught with it's pants down again as the iPAD has the latest killer aps like Netflix and Hulu. A port to the iPhone won't be far behind. I've been complaining about the lack of video on Android (youtube sucks) and this pretty much puts the nail in the coffin. Once the iPhone comes to Verizon I will be dumping my Droid. I am sorry, I am disgusted that a company like Google feels that 10 minute youtube videos are cool, when in fact they are annoying and pathetic in 2010.

Without apps like Netflix, Android which is a good OS will be relegated to a very distant second citizen...

To quote boxing to be the champ you've got to BEAT the champ. Android doesn't beat the champ (apple) in the OS game, it might be a little better in some things, but overall Apple wins again.

LOL. The iPad is nothing more than a large iPhone 3GS clocked at 1 Ghz that cannot make phone calls. As for beating the champ?

OK. Now that we know what that a REAL tablet is coming with Android I suggest the iPad folks start worrying. So far it has had less than stellar sales and most retailers don't see the iPad sales sustaining. As for Android because it is so diverse, runs on multiple hardware platforms as well as being available from multiple manufacturers it will only strengthen the platform. I for one welcome our :motdroidvert: overlords. :icon_ banana:

I was all about the Notion Ink.... then I saw this today..... ICD Gemini

I want it NOW!! I will agree that Apple is the company to compete with, but Android is doing a great job at that. Android just MAKES SENSE. Having the ability of the iPhone or iPad at the cost of openness seems like a horrible trade off.

I'll wait for something like the Gemini or Adam before I jump on the slate wagon.

I am a proud member of the Android Army.

OP, you sir are a fanboy to the fullest. Apple has done a wonderful job with what the iPad is. As well as the iphone. But they are not the be all end all devices by far.

Android in the smartphone arena has made a multitude of devices with a wide variety of capabilities. That are equal too if not surpass the iPhone. This will be the same in the tablet/ PC world too. See what Google, apple and all other big company's relize that you do not. Its not a boxing match for them. Its a dairy farm, we are the cows. And they just want to milk us for as long as they can.

Yeah but when are they actually coming out. I notice all the alternative iPad articles I read never include a release date.
