Just got an OTA from Moto this am

Who knows...i guess I can try it again...im wondering if its because my radio was stock and my kernal was 893 it gave me issues. I think most people have the Kernal and radio match, not sure how I ended up like that

Yeah me either I thought they were a package kernel and radio. Unless like the other guy says he is stock unrooted and on 893. I dont know but there has got to be a reason. I read there was one way if you did it you were stuck I think it was 5.5.893 not sure.

There was a file that could be flashed to roll back just the radio, perhaps you did that previously? Many have done that while waiting on a kernel roll back?

Ok I'm lost! I didn't read EVERY page, but this dude said he got the OTA, is he the only one in the country that did? I didn't see mention of anyone else that did...is this dude for real? Why would u roll it back if u got OFFICIALLY updated?? What am I missing and is 5.7.893 looking to be the moto release??

Your statement assumes that absolutely everyone who owns a Bionic posts on these forums, though. Alot of people get updates on their phone and have no clue that it is an OS update, or that one is even coming. Case in point, a friend got the GB update on his Droid X, and the only thing he noticed was his notification bar turned black.

As for why would you roll back? I believe he did so he could try and get the update notification and snag the update file for the rest of us. In other words, he could have very well screwed up his phone trying to help the forum.

Seems to be the norm. I got an update when I first got my Droid Bionic. My Information is the same as you have posted.

Just got my replacement phone this morning going and I checked the Sys version and it was 5.5.886

Just a minute ago it told me I had an update, turned phone off, updated and now the sys version is 5.5.893

wasnt that the original leaked version?

UPDATE:
just got off the phone with MOTO and the tech said my phone number shows I should be on 5.7.893, which I told him it says 5.5.893. He did some checking and said that it should update to 5.7.893 and that the next update is ICS (didnt give a date for that).

So according to the couple techs I've talked to the last couple days is we were the Genni pigs for the leaked updates and those leaked updates are the official updates.

Plus he accepted the update BEFORE he ROOTED the phone and was rolling back to ROOT/FOR3V3R ROOT and try the update again.

I don't usually do this but I'm hoping someone has a definitive answer. When I first got my Bionic, I forever rooted and got the 5.6.893 update through cheesecake. I thought it would be fine, but started having a couple weird issues.

So, I thought if I went back to 5.5.886 through the R3l3AS3DRoot utility I would go from there and do the full 5.7.893, however I keep getting the "Error 7 Installation aborted" message.

On a whim I tried to see if I could FXZ my way back, but it keeps failing to flash. My question is, did I screw myself over by using cheesecake to go to 5.6.893? Am I forever stuck now? :(

Your not the first to report so my answer IMO would be yes unless Moto gives it up.Did you try the three step up way?

Where are you guys at now like Cur asked? I have read about this Ill see if I can find it. I think what it said is you will be there until the update comes out and the Dev,s figure it out which wont be long after the OTA comes out. Once they get it and do there magic you will be good to go
