Just got unlimited data added to my account today

So is the 6Gig with MHS just a hotspot for 3G and 4G and the Unlimited is specifically for 4G? The reason I ask is because the "add-on" feature for 30.00 specifies 4G and the other one does not. So I am assuming there's a difference and it's a completely seperate feature.

Well, I haven't gone and removed the 4G Mobile Hotspot yet. I used it the first day I did all this, and it worked just fine. That was in a 3G only area, with 4G turned off on my phone. Some have said Verizon sometimes throttles you if you use too much 3G data in specific circumstances. I'll find out next billing cycle. I've only used 2.3G this billing cycle, which ends very soon, but I didn't have unlimited data until just a few days ago. I'll see how much I use when I'm not worried about going over.

Dont know what everyones problem is. Just call 611 from your phone, wait for options and dial "0". Ask for customer support. Tell them you want the unlimited hotspot for 4g phones added to your account. The rep I talked to first said I would only get 4gb data but then I told her that a buddy just got the unlimited hotspot, she came back 30 seconds later and said that she didnt even know that was an option and added it with no problems. Later that night I cancelled hotspot and still have unlimited.

Unlimited data does stay even if you remove the hotspot feature. I removed hotspot feature through internet literally 5 minutes after I got the unlimited, and I still am enjoying the unlimited data (it's been about a month now). And there is a functional wifi tether app available to you for free :)

Root the phone and hack it with SqLite. Tether is free.

WE HAVE LIFT-OFF!!!!!

OMG, I'm beside myself with happiness! I called the VZ *611 number, pressed "0", said "Customer Service" and got a male CS Rep. He gave me the 'So sorry, that plan is no longer available' line so I put on my sad face (well, sad voice) and said I'd have to go back to the internet and do a little more research and if I came up with any more questions, I'd call back.

I waited about 2 minutes, found this thread and looked for the specific wording that was used by a member here who had success.

A woman answered the CS line this time. She was SUPER friendly and cheerful. I thought to myself - Awesome! Maybe I'll get somewhere with her. I used the suggested line mykl376 said to use, "I signed into My Verizon, clicked Features, and tried to add the 4G Mobile Hotspot. It said I needed to call customer service since it wouldn't let me do this on the website." She said, OK, let me see what I can do. She asked me if I wanted to make the change on my line and I said yes, and that I'd like to also have my 2nd line changed as well so she said, OK, no problem. Please give me a moment. She did a little typing in the background, then said, "It's all taken care of. What else can I help you with today?" I said I think that's it! And I thanked her very much and told her how wonderful Verizon is compared to AT&T and Sprint and told her I tell all my friends the same thing. She was profusely thrilled with my ravingly positive feedback and she thanked me for that feedback. I told her I had one more question and wanted to know when the change would be visible on their web site and she said to give it 15 minutes or so but she didn't sound certain. I thanked her after we wished each other a wonderful holiday and off we went!

I'll tell ya what. There's no Christmas present anyone could buy me right now, that would be better than an Unlimited Data plan! WOOT WOOT!!

The whole conversation with the 2nd CS Rep couldn't have lasted more than 3 minutes. The moral of the story is, remain friendly and persistent. If an operator doesn't give you what you want, thank them and move on to the next operator by calling back. Use the wording I used that was recommended by mykl376 just a few posts above and it ought to work just fine!!

If you have "unlimited" hotspot for $30.00 I don't understand why you would want to remove it. I think it is a nice feature to have.

some people have no use for it like me i mean seems pointless to keep but at the same for security i would keep it for a bit

It's wifi-tether version 3.1. It has a profile for bionic, and I've used it with several devices.

UPDATE: It's Dec 11th, and I just called, and it works! (2nd attempt - 1st one I MYSELF botched....) My story is almost the same, with one difference....

Called *611. Dont even listen to the prerecorded message. Press 0. wait a second or two, press 0 again. It will ask you to say what you need to be transfered to ....say "Customer Service"

You will be put on hold breifly. When a rep asks how they can help, say EXACTLY this - "Yes, I would like to add the UNLIMITED DATA 4G HOTSPOT to my plan". They punch it up, and give you the details.

My difference was this (same outcome) She said I would STILL have 6GB phone data, but would have unlimited hotspot data. I just agreed. She put it on my account, and told me it would be $30 in addition to my 6GB. I just agreed....I figured I could always have the option removed.

AFTER she put it on, the hotspot became unlimited, PLUS the phone became unlimited (data), AND it dropped the 6GB data bill......So long story short, I got unlimited data for $30!

Just looked at My VZW, and its true!

EDIT: She even told me, if I drop the hotspot, I will still have unlimited data on the phone.
