Kernels, Get Your Kernels, RED HOT Kernels! - Sapphire - 0.7.0

0.7.0 works great! Just flashed over 0.6.2, reinstalled black bar mod.

Here's a simple little thing that EVERYONE should do. In Android Terminal Editor, open up the settings, and tap "Command Line". Edit that line to be:
Code:
/system/bin/su -c /system/xbin/bash
Now you get a the convenient bash root shell when you open up the terminal, but you don't have to change the default system shell (which could potentially screw up other stuff).

If you don't like it, change it back to /system/bin/sh, but I suspect it won't take you long to get used to the lscolors, arrow-up to get to previous commands, being able to edit commands in-line, and being able to tab-complete filenames.

Love the new media controls - they only work when the screen is OFF, though. If the screen is on (locked or unlocked) long pressing the volume will just increase the volume very fast :-P But then again, if the screen is on, you should just tap the "next-track" button.

How do you load this as I have tried CW and SPR and both say installation aborted?

In SPR you have to select "Allow update.zip" or something to that effect. In CW, I usually just use ROM Manager and select "Install ROM from SD Card" and select the file I want to install from my downloads folder. I get it to the phone by right-clicking the link and selecting "send this link to android" (Chrome-to-phone plugin for firefox).

I did that, i renamed it to update.zip in SPR and then hit the allow and then install like i usually do and it started the stopped saying it was aborted. Then i tried in clockwork under its original name without changing through the install through SD card option and it said it abort as well?

Sounds like something went wrong with the download - try downloading it again, and make sure you got the whole file (what filesize did you get?)

out of curiosity when should we be able to use p3's custom kernels/do they bring compcache support?

Compcache will be there...

As to any kind of release eta... when they are ready sorry they have a lot of work to go yet... the last few bugs are nightmares...

Welcome to DF Mayh3m! I've seen you helping out over at alldroid. Great to have you here supporting Sapphire. Thanks for all your work in testing and helping to make it as stable it can be before we get it!
