in the mean time i'm going back to GB v0.1

Used clockworkmod to recover back to GBv0.1 and everything is good with the 3G. should i be installing the nightlies in succession or is it cool to jump from 0.1 to 0.5?
oh, I think i forgot about the 591 Kernal update... lemme try this again

Ok that worked! Remember the kernel update or use the rom that already has it. It has been added to the nightlies.

Try running the Liberty Customizer from the Liberty Settings page. One of the times I went through it (perhaps the 1st time, I don't remember), the 'Remove Email' option was selected by default, and upon reboot my email icon disappeared as well.

I went back through the Customizer, selected 'Blur Email', and was able to re-add the email icon to one of my home screens after rebooting.

Serx7: Thanks I will try it and let you know what I find. I noticed there was some Moto Blur App now and thought maybe that had something to do with it but it didn't work either. Thanks for the help.

That was it! Thanks a million!

Hey guys, what exactly does this kernel update DO? I installed v.5, and it's running with no problems, but I haven't yet installed the kernel. No particular reason for the delay, other than I'm leery of messing with a true kernel because of the locked bootloader on the DX. I just need someone to tell me what it is that this new kernel actually does.

Thanks much!

I haven't posted here before, but I'm an avid Android user, and rooter, on my X and 2 regular Droid's. I was running Broodcomb 2.0(a Drew Garen .588 GB ROM)and I decided I should go back to Liberty, as 2.x never seemed to work right. So I "Donated"(what a selling point. :l)$5 and immediately went to the Nightlies. I read what was typed and SBF'ed back to 3.340, went back to the Nightlies and installed the 0.1 Full GB Nightly. Boots up, runs great, so I jump to 0.3 after doing a data wipe. So far so good, so I went to 0.5 without wiping, and went to get the kernel, just like it says. When I went to install it, my root was gone. I head straight to super user and it never stops force closing on me. Well, now I cant use my own bootstrapper to get into CWR to do the process myself as I have the kernel downloaded to the SDCard. Now I head into Bootcamp on my MBP to SBF back down to .340. Ill edit the post when Im finished installing the first Nightly. I'll be data wiping every time and installing the kernel and the last Nightly at the same time.

(And just so everyone knowns, I'm not mad or anything like that, I would just like to see this run. ;))

Not sure if this applies to your situation, but P3Droid mentioned that if you lose root after going to the new .591 leak (at least using his files), you can re-root using Gingerbreak. I went up to .591 before applying Liberty, lost root, and restored it using Gingerbreak.

GingerBread DX (Blur 4.5.591) odexed, deodexed apps download

So when trying to access the Liberty Customizer, after the files have been downloaded, a little screen pops up that says "setting up files" and it just hangs. I've let it run for 10 min at a time and it doesn't get past there. Any suggestions? I've tried clearing it's data already.

anyone else having problems getting liberty customizer to work? I get all the files downloaded, then it says setting up files and gets stuck. I left it for a half hour one of the attempts to make sure it wasn't super slow. Any suggestions?

I guess to each his own, but I felt the $5 was worth the ease in my case since I don't flash ROMs much.

Unfortunately, since you were already on a GB ROM, you didn't ned to SBF. That's just if you want to go back to Froyo.

The thing about getting to the 0.591 kernal is to flash v0.5 and not reboot and flash the kernal.

However, there is a v0.5 version which includes the kernal and works great. That's what I ended up using.

Hope it works out for you. I'm surprised with seeing so much variation in success with people flashing.

Liberty Gingerbread v0.5

Did a quick search and did not see this one but I am on v0.5 and having problems when opening a contact in the dialer. Everytime I try it FC's on me. To dial out I have to long press and select dial, cant just hit it and go.

Ok, I just tried it again, and it still gets me into stock recovery.

From powered-off state:

- press & continue to hold Home button

- press and hold Power button until boot logo appears (yellow fist in the case of my Liberty GB 0.5)

- when boot logo appears, release only the Power button (continue holding Home button down)

- android icon w/ exclamation point appears

- release Home button

- press both up/down buttons simultaneously

- stock recovery (blue text, "Android system recovery") appears.

So you're good now then? U said u made it to stock recovery? Stock recovery is blue.

My stock recovery was broken.I flashed a recovery patch and all is good now.I can get into my stock recovery.

Not a bug dunno what else to call it. When I go to restore a app from lbt I don't have the option of selecting WHAT exactly I want to restore. It restores everything... can we get a option for what we would like to restore? Doesn't have to be a full selection. Could just be a saved name selection or a saved date selection. I use titanium backup but like the option being already in liberty.
