Liberty ROM - v. 2.0

Not open for further replies.
This is bit lengthy but I wanted to share this with the group and see of anyone else had this happen and hopefully someone can explain what could have happened.

First - Droid X only a month old - Coming from Rooted D1 (MIUI)
I have a little experience with root and the concept but the DX has a locked bootloader - not sure I understand the concept (if someone could explain that?)

On with the story.....
Downloaded Z4Root and performed the root - worked like a champ.
Downloaded DXBootstrap
Bought Liberty toolbox from the market (donate $5). Installed Liberty and all was good till I saw the EpicBlue theme!!! Had to have it!! Got the zip entered recovery with bootstrap and installed Epic Blue. McLuvn it!!
Then I decided to temp/taunt fate and go for the gravy or in this case the Gingerbread. I used Toolbox and installed Gingerbread v0.1 (had several backups by this point). I used Gingerbread for about a half-day and it was kewl!! Then I thought.....can I put the Epic Blue on top. In the process of researching that, I used toolbox and trieed to get the other version of Gingerbread from Nightlies v0.3 and thats when everything went "Tango Uniform". I dont recall where the mishap occoured but the phone started running slow and hard-locked a few times - I DID NOT get the newer version of Gingerbread installed so Im not sure what happened to the OS on the phone but I decided to use DXBootloader to boot into recovery and do a restore. That was all she wrote. The restore seemed to work but after the reboot the phone just stayed at the Liberty splash screen. Yes I wiped several times and yes I cleared cache 3 times.

I SBF'd the phone at midnight and just just now finished re-installing liberty.

Questions for the experts:

1. If you enter recover mode by simply holding power and home from a reboot (without DXBootstrap) can you do a recovery?

2. Locked Bootloader - what does it mean specifically

3. (Million Dollar Question) is there an SBF file with Liberty/Gingerbread or similar so that in the event you have to SBF your not starting from stock??

Got your issue. Do NOT use dxbootstrapper on gingerbread. Use d2bootstrapper. Dx bboostrapper will break your phone. So I guess just sbf and try again without Dx boostrapper.

I did the SBF and am back to Liberty Epic Blue. I still have backups on the phone though - will they still work if they are Liberty? Also, do you need to Bootstrap in order to do a restore?

thanks bro. got it.

i'm on 2.0.1 now and when going into "Liberty Settings" and clicking on "Tools", "Spare parts" it force closes...also closes when i hit "Dev Tools"...

I'm having this same issue. Thought is was just me at first. Anyone get back to you, besides posting on here?

Anyone find a solution for this problem?
Thanks

Also,
Does the Epic Blue Theme work on Liberty Gingerbread?

Not yet, i haven't gotten a chance to port it over yet, along with the fact that There is a new leak per week, which means a new nightly just about as often. once JRummy releases Liberty GB 1.0, i'll release a theme for it.

Check the market and see if there is an update to Liberty Toolbox waiting for you. Had this issue prior to the last update.

I'm having the same issue - and no update in the market. F.Y.I.

Is there a way to add functions to the Notification Bar such as Power-Off, Reboot, Toggle WiFI etc....

There's a ROM called MIUI (installed on my D1) that has a similar setup and would be very useful.

Thanks Stetsonaw, The TB I'm on is version #2.1.3
I would think the the Settings>Liberty Settings would be part of the ROM, or is it installed via the toolbox?
It was working fine, noticed today it was FC'ing.

I'm with ya buddy, I miss this from Project Elite... Only way i've found is to install widgetsoid from the Market.

The Liberty Settings in the Settings menu links to the Toolbox, so that Jared can update it without it updating the ROM itself.
How do you install "Broken Glass" Icons?
Find a zip of them, put the images on your sdcard, then when you make shortcuts with laucherpro, you can select the icons.

Removed Donate LTB and reinstalled via market, even tried non-donate LTB and still getting FC's on Liberty Settings>Spare Parts. I also cannot get the scrolling screen lock, just the pattern lock when I wake up the phone. I followed OP and tried settings from Menu>Settings>Liberty Settings>Spare Parts in LTB, still FC.

Questions:
Can I backup ROM, wipe data/factory reset and reinstall Liberty via LTB?
Do I even need to back up ROM if I have these issues?
Next step.......?
Thanks for your help, I have tried to find answers to this but I am getting a little thread lost after reading through 100's of posts.

Disregard this post - I reflashed through LTB and have resolved ALL issues. Settings AND scroll Lock are working fine.
I am all dancedroidnow :)

I would need a little more info. How did you install? Did you follow the directions on thread exactly? I had a similar problem when I first installed liberty
