This is bit lengthy but I wanted to share this with the group and see of anyone else had this happen and hopefully someone can explain what could have happened.
First - Droid X only a month old - Coming from Rooted D1 (MIUI)
I have a little experience with root and the concept but the DX has a locked bootloader - not sure I understand the concept (if someone could explain that?)
On with the story.....
Downloaded Z4Root and performed the root - worked like a champ.
Downloaded DXBootstrap
Bought Liberty toolbox from the market (donate $5). Installed Liberty and all was good till I saw the EpicBlue theme!!! Had to have it!! Got the zip entered recovery with bootstrap and installed Epic Blue. McLuvn it!!
Then I decided to temp/taunt fate and go for the gravy or in this case the Gingerbread. I used Toolbox and installed Gingerbread v0.1 (had several backups by this point). I used Gingerbread for about a half-day and it was kewl!! Then I thought.....can I put the Epic Blue on top. In the process of researching that, I used toolbox and trieed to get the other version of Gingerbread from Nightlies v0.3 and thats when everything went "Tango Uniform". I dont recall where the mishap occoured but the phone started running slow and hard-locked a few times - I DID NOT get the newer version of Gingerbread installed so Im not sure what happened to the OS on the phone but I decided to use DXBootloader to boot into recovery and do a restore. That was all she wrote. The restore seemed to work but after the reboot the phone just stayed at the Liberty splash screen. Yes I wiped several times and yes I cleared cache 3 times.
I SBF'd the phone at midnight and just just now finished re-installing liberty.
Questions for the experts:
1. If you enter recover mode by simply holding power and home from a reboot (without DXBootstrap) can you do a recovery?
2. Locked Bootloader - what does it mean specifically
3. (Million Dollar Question) is there an SBF file with Liberty/Gingerbread or similar so that in the event you have to SBF your not starting from stock??
