Manually Update to 2.0.1

if i was to do the update the manual way, would verizon still send me a notification asking me to update or what?

Probably not. The current OS version is likely checked before the download of the update even occurs. Google is well aware that updates can be "leaked" in this manner, and they would certainly be smart enough to code the OTA updater to check the version before wasting the bandwidth to push a 10MB file. It probably becomes available based on the MEID of the device; but if you already have it they're not going to initiate the push. Sort of like the way an update for Windows won't show up in the available updates list once it's been installed.

From Verizon starts updating Motorola DROID fleet to Android 2.0.1

Is anyone else concerned that the file is on an " Untrusted site" by Firefox? I wonder why the file is not on Google..or Motorola. I downloaded it..but may wait a day to install it.

don't worry about that.. that just means the certificate is not registered.... just tell it to make an exception and ok it.... no big deal.

The File "is" on google... just not in an easy place to find as they don't want to be troubleshooting the install procedure and its not mean't for the public since its a tad more complicated to install and someone being careless can erase everything.

Just go slow and look at what you read and its no big deal......

BTW, quick impressions are :

WiFi connects MUCH faster on my secure WiFi AND connects when BT is active (wouldn't before without turning off BT, then WiFi on , the BT back on)

Camara is much faster.

Overall snappier in everyway.

Haptic Feedback is "stronger"

Sync Contacts seems to be working again properly (has been hanging up and getting stuck on syncing contacts with Gmail)

VERY, VERY Happy!!

And they removed the stupid noise from the camera when you take a picture also. the clicking noise.

I don't know if this advice is necessary, it always was a good thing to do after a BlackBerry software update - run a *228, option 2 to make sure you have the latest PRL on your device after updating.

Wow.... first bootup after the install takes awhile! But i'm obviously successfully updated, the lock screen is totally different (as expected)

just installed! rebooting.....
