just a FYI (I don't want to make anyone mad but) that link pings to 24.28.193.9 and if I remember correctly thats a road runner ip address. Also a tracert dies after 8 hops. If you try to do a dns lookup or any other info on the ip address it all fails. For anyone that is up for it please check the ip address out to see if its real.

Again not calling ANYONE liars and do NOT want to get anyone mad but I want to make sure before a brick my phone LMAO.

Trust me if ANYONE is going to brick a phone it'll be me ROFLMAO!!

Like I said before, I did an nslookup on the domain android.clients.google.com; and it came up with the following:

C:\Users\Dave>nslookup android.clients.google.com
Server: UnKnown
Address: 192.168.1.1
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: android.l.google.com
Addresses: 74.125.91.138
74.125.91.139
74.125.91.100
74.125.91.101
74.125.91.102
74.125.91.113
Aliases: android.clients.google.com

I then ran a whois on the IP address 74.125.91.138 and came up with the info that I posted prior. I'll recopy it for convenience sake.

I repeat, there is no way in HELL this file is coming from anywhere but Google. The above proves this to be true. I don't know how you resolved it to a roadrunner IP, but the above is the correct procedure to determine who the domain is leased (owned) by; and as you can see, it's Google.

I don't say this to diminish appreciation for your concern about users devices, justicw; but merely to put the users of droidforums.net's minds at ease. The URL comes from the logfile of a successful install of the official deal, if I am not mistaken. I read that somewhere a few hours ago.

I just shut down Facebook and then restarted it. No longer "Facebook User".....I have a Black power control bar. Is that normal? It's pretty big as compared to the "google search" widget...

Fix for "Facebook User" problems: Go to the news feed and refresh.

Didn't work =\ the news feed still displays "facebook user"

I went into my facebook settings and changed the sync options to "sync all" and now it displays correctly. I previously had it on "sync with existing contacts".
I just noticed a new problem myself though. Try going to your profile. Does it say that your name is "Facebook User"? It does for me.

If, it hasn't been mentioned you will need to manually delete the update.zip file off of the SD card after the install. I guess it doesn't auto delete like it does with the OTA update.. that is if you want to free up 10 megs on your SD card :-)

Here to confirm that it work. Updating firmware then root w/out any problem. Everything run smooth even in panda home.

I refreshed about 20 times, logged out and logged back into facebook, then refreshed another 10 times and I finally got the News Feed to display the names properly. (i'm pretty sure the exact order and quantity i specified is not necessary)

Are you sure you renamed to update.zip and not update.zip.zip in Windows?

Check if extensions are turned on or off and rename depending.

Yep that was the prob. Thanks!!

Now to wonder what happens when verizon tries to push the update to all of us that did it manually lol

if i was to do the update the manual way, would verizon still send me a notification asking me to update or what?

When your phone is pinged for the update it should report it is already updated and abort the update... UNLESS this first one has some bugs and the one later this week is a revision.. OR reversal :-)

No, mine shows my name.
