Manually Update to 2.0.1

This is all too reminiscent of hacking the Storm up to new unofficial releases.

While I am certainly anxious for the update, I think I can wait a few more days to get it OTA.

It's WAYYYY faster and easier than installing a leak on the Storm. It took all of 5 minutes to do; and my phone was actually back up and running. Not waiting to go through a 30 minute long reboot.

Dang it now ya done gone and convinced me to do it.

After installing 6+ leaks on my Storm I was a tad leary to get involved this late at night.

do it, as easy... actually easier than a BB update... no 'shrink-a-os- dealings :)

I just upgraded and it went smoothly, but for some reason my Droid feels sluggish and I just got a "not responding" inside the camera after taking a couple pictures.

I went into the battery usage and Android System is using 60% of my battery since the reboot.

Prior to the update, everything was fast and smooth and Display was normally using 70+%

Any ideas?

It only took me 5 minutes on my Droid

Just been play'n since my update. All good. No contact problem, facebook problem, or otherwise. One concern, I know it's been addressed here, but still, , , , Google Chrome didn't like that link AT ALL. Really put up a major warning. So you're saying that that is a standard warning and Chrome just couldn't recognize it as itself (google)?
Also, does anyone know why such an update didn't effect anything on the phone, I mean I didn't need to reload apps, or wallpaper or anything. It almost seemed that nothing happend. execpt version varified the update. And yes, prob more responsive, but I didn't notice too much.
Best part, no error on voice search. and button lights stay on. goodle!

DONT USE SAFARI TO DOWNLOAD THIS! AUTOMATICALLY UNZIPS AND SAVES AS DIRECTORY! THIS WILL AUTOMATICALLY CAUSE A VERIFICATION ISSUE.

I rattled my head around this for about an hour. Used Firefox and all worked fine!

Turn off the auto launch in Safari and it won't do this. I used safari and it just downloaded it and didn't unzip it.

After installing the update, i found a few glitchy things on the phone. I went ahead and rebooted to see if that fixed them, and sure enough, that fixed all the small quarks i had.

Rebooted after pulling down updates from the Market and all is well... I should have known better from my WinMo days, when it doubt, reboot!

I get nothing but facebook user instead of names in the facebook app now. Anyone know how to fix this?

For me the fix was to change the notification settings. I turned notifications to active, but the refresh to never and unchecked the individual items for notifications (I had it all off before). Then I refreshed and it came back with the user names.

edit: I went back to check and now it's not working again. I don't think there is any one functional fix for this.

Updated worked fine just as described. Here's a few things I've noticed:
-Had to recreat Gallery shortcut
-Lock screen goes to sleep faster
-Time moved and font changed on lock screen
-Fixed facebook showing up multiple times in contacts
-Fixed Party Shuffle, used to play same songs
-Seems more responsive, menus are faster.
-"Never" is no longer an option in screen timeout
-Auto Brightness seems to work better
-Moving cursor is more precise
-Camera takes pictures faster than before, maybe a second or two
-Home screen scrolls faster, more fluidly
-Pull down bar is much less laggy
-No hangs or lock ups yet
-Music, Power, and Calendar widgets have a new UI

I've attached a few screenshots from the upgrade process
Thank god for this, I love the new look. It doesn't hurt my eyes using the stock widgets anymore!!

Uhhhh yeah, that's what I said.... *LOL* The 30 minute long reboot was referring to the Storm.

Is this weird? Speaking of Reboot. When I did mine that miniature type that was displayed during update. There were four choices and you scroll down 2 to update. When it was done updating it came back to that same menu and I hit the 1st option that rebooted. All went well, but wondering if anyone else did it that way. No issues, just wondering. Mine stayed on that menu screen for a while so I assumed that we were supposed to do the reboot then.
