Manually Update to 2.0.1

Is this weird? Speaking of Reboot. When I did mine that miniature type that was displayed during update. There were four choices and you scroll down 2 to update. When it was done updating it came back to that same menu and I hit the 1st option that rebooted. All went well, but wondering if anyone else did it that way. No issues, just wondering. Mine stayed on that menu screen for a while so I assumed that we were supposed to do the reboot then.

you're all set :)

Figured out to just name it "update" dropped it in the card. Followed the direction. Wahoo it updated. :icon_ banana: Now do we got back and delete the zip folder?

Thanks to the OP for posting this and those who posted instructions. :) Add me to another successful update. :icon_ banana:

Issues I've seen:

I also have the FB picture/user name display problem on the News Feed. I tried removing FB and adding back. Tried syncing a few times, to no avail. I notice when I click on "older posts" a few of the names and pictures return, but not permanently.

I notice under "settings/sound and display/screen timeout" the timeout is limited to 30 minutes now. Before you could set it to "never off."

Handcent SMS no longer shows contacts.

Just been play'n since my update. All good. No contact problem, facebook problem, or otherwise. One concern, I know it's been addressed here, but still, , , , Google Chrome didn't like that link AT ALL. Really put up a major warning. So you're saying that that is a standard warning and Chrome just couldn't recognize it as itself (google)?

It's Chrome's fancy way of saying there is some sort of misconfiguration in the site's security certificate. I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong, per se; just that the certificate is only designed to be understood by the Droid's OTA update app. The PC probably doesn't understand or recognize the cert, thus the warning is thrown up. If you look a few pages back, I traced the domain pretty thoroughly and everything points to it being owned by Google. It's not a site designed for access via PC.

Gosh that was painless compared to the Storm. Sorry Storm I love ya but dayam...

Loaded GDE no problem at boot and is crisp
WiFi is actually showing a stronger signal
Gallery SCREAMS compared to before
Photo Widgets wouldn't load (reboot did not fix so I imagine like gallery new ones are needed)

You did it correctly. Once the update completes, the bootloader menu pops back up and the correct choice is indeed to reboot.

Funny, I was getting ready to say that though it sadly makes me feel like a traitor to the Storm; after this painless update experience and the overall experience of owning a Droid for the past 3 weeks I actually LOATHE the way RIM does things now. The Droid proves just how primitave things are in the BB world. Hell, a Droid can run a SNES game at full framerate and it looks 100x better than a native BlackBerry game.

Wow the new stock Droid widgets look MUCH better.

Everything is so much smoother. Pulling down the status bar glides like it is on ice. GDE seems to be working perfectly with this release.

What is it about the Storm that makes many of us feel like we've abandoned an old friend? When I got rid of my ENV I didn't feel that way... when I dumped the Voyager I didn't miss it... when I sold my Dare there was no love lost.

There has to be something about the Storm that makes us feel this way!

This is why I love forums/online communities. Everyone shares. Dowloaded and installed flawlessly. Everything is lots smoother. Really glad it works. WIFI is AWESOME FAST. I had lots of drops on it before.

Facebook, I had the reset thing but I went to the main screen then went to the newsfeed and it fixed. Now it's fine. Did the Gallery shortcut replacement. Open Home seems to work fine. The new gallery moves really smoothly but I wish it had the "flip" through the pictures. Camera works much better.

I'll be interested to see what updates come for apps over the next couple of days. So far I've had 6 apps hit me with upgrades.

Seems a lot more buggy than 2.0 so far to me.. Now my button lights wont work at all...

I just got it updated. My lights weren't working either. I restarted the phone again and now they are working fine. Seems to be a bit quicker. I like the new lock screen!
