Manually Update to 2.0.1

Seems a lot more buggy than 2.0 so far to me.. Now my button lights wont work at all...

I just got it updated. My lights weren't working either. I restarted the phone again and now they are working fine. Seems to be a bit quicker. I like the new lock screen!

Yes please restart and check again, that fixed the few quarks i had.

I've restarted about six times, each time to get the lights to come on I have to disable automatic brightness.

Thanks to the OP for posting this and those who posted instructions. :) Add me to another successful update. :icon_ banana:

Issues I've seen:

I also have the FB picture/user name display problem on the News Feed. I tried removing FB and adding back. Tried syncing a few times, to no avail. I notice when I click on "older posts" a few of the names and pictures return, but not permanently.

I notice under "settings/sound and display/screen timeout" the timeout is limited to 30 minutes now. Before you could set it to "never off."

Handcent SMS no longer shows contacts.

I want to do it but there are too many people yelling out minor bugs that might not happen if you wait for the OTA update. I will be jealous but I will wait...if I can.

Help please.

Having an issue myself with the installation. I the file is renamed to "update.zip" I doublechecked he extension. Copied he file to my SDcard to "E:\update.zip" when I try to install it I get this text on my phone...

Android system recovery <2e>

Use d-pad to highlight; center to select.

reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command

If you uninstall handcent and reinstall that fixes the problem. After resyncing with facebook you need to go into the contacts and let the pics reload.

EDITED: Spoke too soon, facebook app is broke to all hell still and the pics don't sync with existing users still. My bad, it appeared they did to begin with.

Im testing it out. I get the "Facebook User" issue as well. This could be a problem with facebook itself, since some users said it had issues but sometimes it was fine.

The default widgets got a nice facelift. The old ones didn't bother me but the new ones look better in my opinion.

The lock screen doesn't look as nice. I liked the way the old "spinning wheel" looked. However, the new method is easier to swipe your finger when you need to open the phone quickly, while the old way did not recognize my swipe as easily since I naturally do a straight swipe with my finger, causing the old curve design not to unlock the phone sometimes.

The home screens seem to switch more smoothly and the notification bar seems more responsive (it doesnt lag behind as much). The notification bar still doesnt look smooth when pulling it up/down very quickly, but it responds more quickly than before, making it easier to use.

I didn't notice a big difference in camera picture delay. I tested it with my mom's DROID which didn't have the update, and it seems basically the same time as hers did. I haven't been able to test the autofocus much, but the few pictures I took did have green lines indicating a correct focus.

Overall not a huge difference, but it did improve a bit here and there, so I'm happy with it.

Meticode same thing happen to me, go back and rename the file update (with no .zip).. try it now.

The file is exactly named "update.zip" the .zip being the file extension. Deleting it won't fix my problem because it's finding the file but it's not verifying it.

ok seems ok now i guess

i deleted the zip file. i dont have to delete anything else right?

you should add that to the sticky
