Manually Update to 2.0.1

i followed the step by step instruction on the other forum that someone posted and it works perfect things guys this is awesome

in the future make the instructions really clear and people want be so confused it took me about 15 minutes of reading the instructions on here to get an idea of what to do but all did was follow the step by step instructions on the othe forum it got it done in a totally of 3 minutes

I read the instructions on here and did it in about 10 seconds. The instructions on here are step by step, and from the other users that have done it, seem to be good instructions.

ok as far as i can tell...the first person to post that they got the update was 12/7/09 at 2:05 p.m. i read somewhere in this forum on that ALL droids will be updated ota within 48 hours...is this true? if so, i should receive the update sometime today by 2:00 p.m. right? i'm too scared to do the manual update because i'm not too bright about things like that but i'm DYING to get it!! can someone please confirm the 48 hour thing? i searched the verizonwireless site and could find nothing about the timeline. thanks!

No they will all be updated by the end of day on the 11th of december. Another bulk of OTA updates were slated to go out today and tomorrow, and end on the 11th.

Darn!! lol thanks ;) ummm did you get mad going again new2u? im still sick thinkin of his/her pain .... yesterday someone took my jeep to the store and i had left my droid in the dock:icon_eek: omfg i almost died till they got back lol now i know how a new mother must feel the first time she lets her baby go to a babysitter lol

all i was stating is the clarity of the other instructions was way more precise on the other site this one only had 7 steps and was confusing about renaming the file when you don't have to at all when you follow the 11 step process on the other forum

remember not everyone that want to do a manual update is an all out techy guru like some of the people on this forum

i was just trying to let people know that in the future the more steps that you put in you instructions the more likely people will figure it out the first time with out having to ask the same question over and over again

that is all i was trying to say

Here's what you'll need to do:
1) Download the file update.zip and place it in the root directory on the DROID's microSD memory card. Do NOT place it in any sub-directory or rename the file to something else.
2) Power the phone off.
3) Slide open the phone so you can see the keyboard.
4) Press-and-hold the letter X on the keyboard and press the Power button until the device powers on.
5) Continue to hold the X button until the screen shows a triangle and exclamation mark.
6) Release the X button and then press the Volume UP *and* Camera buttons at the same time. Be sure to keep the phone open.
7) On the screen you will see several choices, use the d-pad on the keyboard to move down the list and select the "update.zip" file.
8) The update will begin and take a few minutes.
9) Once it is done, select the 1st option on the screen to Reboot the phone - NOT Factory Restore.
10) The phone will turn off and then restart, and the "DROID EYE" will show for about 90 seconds.
11) Once the Home Screen loads, everything will be intact, including programs and settings.

Not sure how many have noticed but after the 2.0.1 update the browser seems to be quite laggy when scrolling. I'd greatly appreciate it if people would star this issue so that it might get resolved sooner! We only need 29 more votes as of the posting of this message for this issue to make it onto the first page! Every vote counts.

Thanks much gentlemen....
