Manually Update to 2.0.1

OK.. since these instructions are now scattered, I'm going to try and compile them together to fill in some holes that I will add in red.... hope that helps..
And thanks a ton for everyone who has contributed to make this work!

Below are the instructions for applying 2.0.1 manually without waiting for OTA Update.

• Grab this file https://android.clients.google.com/upda ... 263456.zip
• Rename the file to update.zip and place it the root directory of your SD Card.
• Power off the phone.
• Power on the phone, while holding the 'X' on the physical keyboard.
• When you see the triangle and !, press Volume Up + Camera button. This is a little difficult.. just turn the phone around so you can reach the buttons easier, but leave the physical keyboard open for now"
• Navigate to "apply update.zip" and press the gold button (center) on the D-Pad. Now it will install. I navigated using the volume switch.. there may be several ways. *** It will not install until you hit the large gold key on the right side of the physical keyboard.
• Reboot phone (should take 3-4 minutes). I rebooted by hitting that same gold key on the physical keyboard.

Your DROID is now running 2.0.1 instantly without waiting.

Why do I keep getting a security warning about the sites certificate???????

the sites security certificate has expired. I can confirm it is a good patch and not a virus. I have it and have uploaded to my device. rebooting as we speak

I don't think the cert has expired, per se. If it had, the OTA likely wouldn't work. Like I said in my post about the whois info, I think it's looking for a specific cert on the phone which wouldn't be on most folks' PCs.

got in on the pc... my droid wouldn't let me download the file... says it's not supported.... am i missing an app or setting to resolve this?

Works quite nicely. In case anyone else is as foolish as me: If you're having trouble getting the menu to come up by hitting Vol+ and Camera, you have to make sure you're hitting them at the exact same time, and it may take multiple tries.

Actually what really matters is hitting Vol+ first, then camera after. That will work every time.

successful update! thx! does anybody have a problem with the facebook program/widget? Mine is infinitely stuck on "refreshing statuses..." and my friends are listed as "facebook user"

Mine is like that as well.... and it doesn't show their profile picture.

And for me as well. It also seems to have removed Facebook contacts from the contact list.

Disregard that part about the missing contacts, I accidentally clicked the wrong setting when logging into Facebook.

just a FYI (I don't want to make anyone mad but) that link pings to 24.28.193.9 and if I remember correctly thats a road runner ip address. Also a tracert dies after 8 hops. If you try to do a dns lookup or any other info on the ip address it all fails. For anyone that is up for it please check the ip address out to see if its real.

Again not calling ANYONE liars and do NOT want to get anyone mad but I want to make sure before a brick my phone LMAO.

Trust me if ANYONE is going to brick a phone it'll be me ROFLMAO!!

will installing the new update manually automatically "shun" out the intended OTA update sent amongst the phones?

i only ask since previous posters said that the popup was unavoidable, and that could be an issue for us in the next couple days.
