Missed Call for the Motorola Droid

Just wanted to report that the previous SMS issue I thought I had is not an issue now. I received a new message from someone that already had a thread AND I had other threads in the inbox and it took my directly to the message.

Also you were asking about the Bluetooth service and I tried it out just now and everything worked exactly like it was supposed to.

Thanks!

BTW, what exactly is the application service?

All it does is notify you via a sound, vibration, and LED blink that Bluetooth is activate and also when a device is connected. It's just a little extra as opposed to just the tiny B logo in the notification bar.

I will just have it do an LED color for active, a different color for device connected, and a sound when a device is connected.

Thats all! Hope I explained it well enough.

I just tried this app as of last night, and I think I have the hang of getting the settings the way I'd like them for a missed call. But what I'd really like is if it could do something similar for a voicemail notification. Once in awhile I'm in a spot with no reception and so the phone won't register a missed call, but it will show a voicemail when reception is available. It would be great to have the repeating reminder on that.

I think that someone posted about this near the start of this thread but I didn't see any reply about it. Is this capability in the app? Another app? The phone's native applications?

Thanks!

I know it's not offered right now. Oddly enough I just read your thread and went to look at my phone and I had a Voicemail as well. I was in the lunch room here at work and sometimes service dips in and out. I did have a notification icon and a green LED blink but a audible reminder would be sweet.

I know one thing that might be holding this up is that the guy (or girl?) that made this program doesn't actually have a Motorola Droid right now. Once they gets their hands on it I'm sure there will be several other options opened up.

Yes it would certainly be a valuable addition to the app. Is the green LED blink a standard notification? Not sure I saw where to turn that on. Thanks.

Yeah, that's the default notification. You have to turn the notification sound OFF in the SOUND & DISPLAY area of the settings or else you get a double sound played with the Missed Call application running.

I use the GMail program for email and in the settings for that program I have a sound for that set up plus by default it will blink green on the LED.

It's kinda sucky that by turning off the default notification sound you lose the ability to have an audible reminder about voicemail. The other problem though is that by default the phone will only make ONE sound or ONE vibration and after that just an LED blink. So without a timed reminder service your kinda out of luck if you don't hear the initial sound.

There might be other programs that can do this but I pretty much refuse to switch at this point. I was using Missed Reminder before and it was pretty terrible in my opinion.

In another thread there was some discussion about the lack of "reminding" on this phone and other smartphones (and maybe blackberry's too). The idea is that a phone like this is primarily used by people in the "business world" who are constantly on their phone anyways so there isn't much of a need for reminders and stuff. I think it's kind of silly but then again I come from "dumb phone" world.

missed_call if you happen to see this post I'd like to make a suggestion about the user interface. When you launch the program instead of having to hit the menu button to add services I personally think it would be cool if ALL the services were listed, but with check boxes next to them to turn them on and off. That might be more user friendly over all and slightly less confusing to new users to your program. Just a thought, thanks! :icon_ banana:

Hmm, I don't recall ever seeing a blinking LED when I had a voicemail waiting. I'll have to keep my eyes on that. That's why I thought it might need to be activated somewhere. Still, an audible and/or vibrating reminder would be better.

I even had this with my last phone, a Windows Mobile device and that was certainly business oriented. It was an option in SPB Mobile Shell. It's funny because the Droid does a zillion things that my old Windows Mobile phone couldn't possibly do, but just about every little annoyance in the droid (to me anyway) is something that was better handled by Windows Mobile or an app for that platform. Oh well, I guess it's also a matter of Android just being newer.

I have a question. I love this app however my settings disappear suddenly and I don't get any notifications because I disable the other programs from notifying me so I don't get 2 notifications. I don't know if I have a message unless I happen to look at the phone. Is there something I am doing wrong?

First off awesome awesome app. I have it setup to my missed and incoming calls along with bluetooth.

I dont have it for SMS yet as I would like to ensure when I do use it for SMS it also does MMS.

I really like how clean and well this app works and behaves with everything else installed. Very very clean.

To the programmer - Thanks for such a nice app. Please let me know when you get donations up or move to a paid version of the app. The work you have done is evident and I would like to give you something for it. I cant get you a phone but if I could I would to help you further development and also let you produce other apps you have ideas for.

I would love for this app to replace all my notifications on the phone since it is so much more configurable and granular on what it does.

I will add my $0.02 to marketplace on your app but I also wanted to say something here.

Coming from the blackberry world and having very very few good developers and they knew who they were. It is nice to see some really awesome apps here and very diligent attention to the programs that they call their babies.

I also feel the only thing missing from this app is the ability to enable notifications for e-mail, other than that it works flawlessly, great job, Thank you.

I have another suggestion that I can't remember if it has been discussed or not. I think that it would be sweet to have sound profiles like Work, Night, Travel, etc. I know a few programs utilize the gps for this but something manually set or set by time/day would be excellent.

Thanks!

Hey guys, dumb question, and I have looked around....I was trying to change the SMS and incoming call vibrate pattern to 4 or 5 very long vibrates, but can not figure out what i should be entering in the custom box, and I can not find any reference explaining it. Any ideas on how to work that? Thanks....

Thanks!
