mlb baseball

I think this thread has been pretty useful. I'm guessing a good amount of people assumed it was signal but there is just no way. Each game I try cuts out intermittantly. The most common error I get is "unable to connect" but it instantly conects again after another press or two. I am sitting in the same chair in the same location for hours with full 3G connectivity but it randomly stops a lot even though the app says "playing". i then press stop and start again to get it going.

If audio stops and it still says playing it could just be a commercial break. Commercials aren't played in this setting (much like Sat. radio) so you will hear nothing. After the commercial break the audio will come back. This is not a sign of it being broken. It is normal.

What is being described and happened for me was def not a commercial break. All audio was cut out for an extended period of time and would not resume until play was stopped and restarted. Nothing normal about that.

Have you been reading this thread? I'm aware of commercial pauses. I was the first person to mention them in this thread. I also just posted about it again a second time stating that I found that info in the tips/support section.

That's not what we are talking about. They say the fix will be in the update but they don't say when the update is coming.

I just received some useless e-mails from MLB. I asked them many specific questions about rolling out live streaming video of MLB games. I asked for any info they had regarding any games ever being available this season and mentioned I read an article about world series testing of android streaming live video. This was the reply.

Dear Mark:

Thank you for your inquiry.

MLB.TV is not yet available on the Android application.

Sincerely,

MLB.com Mobile Customer Support Team

My second question was more specific about the outages and I even asked specifically about updates and when they would be available. Again I got a generic answer that was completely unhelpful. It's as if they cut and pasted it from the tips/support section. How frustrating. I'm just gonna get a refund at this point.

Dear Mark:

Thank you for your inquiry.

If you are manually setting the date and time, please make sure that your clock is fully accurate to your local time.
If you are not hearing Audio, it may be because you have tuned in during a commercial break. For some radio stations the stream will be silent during commercials.
In some cases if you are having difficulty you may be able to resolve by switching from 3G/Edge/EDVO to wifi or vice versa.

Sincerely,
MLB.com Mobile Customer Support Team

I figure if they ever get it going right or update it, I will get it in the future but it's pretty annoying and useless when you have to restart dozens of times during a game. I even told them there were many of us who were going to get refunds. They didn't address this issue or any of my specific questions. Fail.

Already got my refund, the app itself was nice, but I bought it almost exclusively for the audio and thats not so nice. Been waiting a long time for this app and it finally comes out and is a huge disappointment so far.

I just installed At Bat. Since all the games are done for the night, I won't get a chance to check it out until tomorrow. I have read about all the problems with the audio dropping out. Any reports about how Gameday works with this app?

As far as I can tell, it doesn't.

Did anyone check out android central in the last day? It seems that verizon had data problems yesterday. I dont know if that had anything to do with our issues but it sounds about right.

They don't do Gameday for most ST games. You'll have to wait for the regular season for that.

Still having problems again for the second day, my audio keeps disconnecting. I have had to reconnect in different ways 6 times so far. A real PIA. Got the stock response from MLB that everyone else did.

Refund seems to be the only smart choice here. There is no one to talk to and no one to contact via e-mail that will respond so there is no reason they should get anyones $15 unless people are ok with restarting streams repeatedly.

Been listening to both the Phillies/Toronto and Yankees/Rays games with no problems at all.

Important to note, though, that I'm docked, fully charged, and running off my home wifi with the router sitting about six inches from my phone.

There are so many variables involved in streaming audio from radio stations that I'm not at all surprised that some people would have trouble with some games from some stations.

It ain't a perfect system, folks. It's jerry-built out of pieces and parts, all of which are under the control of multiple individuals/technologies that are, at best, interfaced, not integrated.

The assumption that this should all go as smoothly as technology developed and ironed out for the last 90 years is simply silly.
