More Froyo

So how do we clean install this updated Build? I rebooted into recovery, update zip from sd and didn't work. Can you not clean install it?

This is a Nandroid back up and not an update.zip file. Extract the files and then it should work for you. You can wipe data and cache for a clean install.

Can I do this from my phone? i have the free rom manager, do I need the paid to do it? And can give a quick and easy step by step if I can do it from the phone? I am on the first build of the froyo rom with root. Thank you and sorry if it was already posted, just want to do it right the first time.

And how do I change to a different kernal? Do I delete the first one i installed?

you flash it like you flash a rom.

if you are using rom manager then just put the zip on your sd card and use "install from sd card", navigate to where you put the zip and you are good to go. if you are using sprecovery rename to update.zip and place on the root of the sd card, reboot into recovery, allow update.zip, then flash update.zip.

no need to delete the original one (i don't think you can delete it) b/c when you flash it will write over the existing kernel.
Forgive my ignorance, these are the directions for changing kernels correct? Of so can anyone help me on the first part of my post? Can I change from the old 2.2 to the new one from my phone? I have the sprecovery on my phone. If so does someone have a simple step by step for"dummies" ? :)

Need Help

OK, I use folders to sort my programs--currently, I fill up a folder with programs, then they disappear after a few minutes. This has never happened before, only since I put this latest build on the phone. Anyone else having this issue?

Any way to fix it?

At first I did a restore over my previous Froyo build, but when I had the disappearing icon problem, I did a factory reset and installed fresh. The problem is still there.

Ideas?

Sure you can. Download the file you want to your phone. Unpack the file to the folder it needs to be in. Using ClockWork I put it in ClockWorkMod/Backups. Reboot to recovery and choose Nandroid from the menu. I kept data and cache by using an advanced restore and specifically restoring Boot and System. Everything is working fine for me with the Market fixes that have been made. :)

All I did was extract the zip file, I renamed it Froyo2, which wasn't necessary, pulled the old Froyo out of the Nandroid folder, then I ran SPRecover and did a basic restore. It took all of 4 minutes. Tops.

sounds great but dont feel like messing with my phone today. the froyo from saturday is working perfect for me. I think ill wait for a cyanogen froyo built from source before messing with my hone again. enjoy ;)

Hold on you are using sprecovery to install a kernel.

edit: disregard. saw member is trying to install 2.2 not kernel

Just rename the kernel to update.zip and place in the root of you'd SD card boot into recovery choose install/allow install update.zip/install update.zip (depracated)

Thank you both for your help! I will try it here in a few. Just delete the old froyo and add the new, hit basic restore and let it reboot?

That's what I did and it worked.

I'm having problems with my market, even after the update. Going to stay with the first froyo release for now. Hopefully Pete releases his froyo soon. I have really liked his roms in the past.
