More Froyo

i get what you're saying but the majority of problems are user related- i guarantee that. working techs support and helping people off the clock with problems and you'll find out quickly that it's mostly user error.

it's just easier for you to help someone if they use the program you're familiar with. there's not really a whole lot of differences in them to me. then again i prefer to look at similarities between programs rather than differences since it makes it easier to learn by applying what you already know to a new experience.

that said, i've done 4 installs with cw with no problems. what i like most about cw is not having to rename files to update.zip all the time that way i can do multiple updates without any type of reboot.

I disagree with you. ClockWork is working just fine with 2.2. I have seen many people having issues with SPRecovery and they needed to switch to ClockWork to get it working correctly. I understand that you don't like ClockWork but saying that it is causing the majority of issues is just not true.

I am just trying to stop misinformation and have nothing against you or the job you have been doing.
blazingwolf : )

again it's NOT about liking one recovery/flash method over another. It's about using what gives more consistent results. In this case successful installs of 2.2.

So if people have an issue with CW they know to use SPRecovery...

But flashing SPRecovery via CW is posing problems as well.

I don't make these things up lol.

If twirling the device in your hand worked the best I'd tell people to do that.

So don't shoot the messenger and all that good stuff : )

I'm having problems with my market, even after the update. Going to stay with the first froyo release for now. Hopefully Pete releases his froyo soon. I have really liked his roms in the past.

There's a fix for the market. Click on the "Active Topics" tab in the forum and you will see the thread.

OK, I use folders to sort my programs--currently, I fill up a folder with programs, then they disappear after a few minutes. This has never happened before, only since I put this latest build on the phone. Anyone else having this issue?

Any way to fix it?

At first I did a restore over my previous Froyo build, but when I had the disappearing icon problem, I did a factory reset and installed fresh. The problem is still there.

Ideas?

No one else is having this issue?

I had shortcuts in my folders. they dissappeared. I replaced them and they haven't gone away yet.

Froyo changes to Vibrate/Silent Mode

Not sure if these are good, bad, or just different, but here they are.

Under Settings, the option for "Sound & Display" is now broken up into two options: "Sound" and "Display". This looks like a Good Thing.

Under "Sound" | "General", there's an option "Vibrate" where you can pick "Always", "Never", "Only in Silent mode", or "Only when not in silent mode". This seems straightforward and complete, but read on to hear how it is different from 2.1

In 2.1, you have Silent, Vibrate, and X different volume levels. When you hit the Volume Down key, it will lower the volume, then go to vibrate, then to completely silent.

In 2.2, it's different. For "Vibrate", If you pick "Always", you will ALWAYS have vibrate - there is no longer a "silent" mode. Pressing volume down stops when you get to vibrate and does not continue on to silent. If you pick "Never", it will NEVER vibrate - there will no longer be a "vibrate" mode. Pressing volume down skips over vibrate and goes straight to silent. If you pick "Only in Silent Mode", you again lost the true silent mode. If you pick "Except in Silent Mode", you lose the vibrate-only mode.

To summarize: In 2.2, you have the X different volume levels, and you can pick to have Silent OR Vibrate as an available mode, and you can pick to have it vibrate or not during normal non-silent rings, but you CANNOT any longer have a silent mode AND a vibrate mode that are easily accessible without an add-on or widget or something.

Hmm...I've tried 3 times, they keep disappearing. I am trying this build one more time (full wipe) to see what happens...It was speedier than the build from the other day, so I'd like to keep it if I can :-)

Plus, Chrome to Phone is sweet!

I've noticed that now I can't select ringtones and notifications from sounds that are on my SD card (yes, I checked to make sure it wasn't mounted) Did they change something about this?

Smooth scrolling on Froyo 2.2

After all the my accounts synched and apps re downloaded and after installing the 1.1 kernel the phone is better then stock for sure, but I notice my scrolling is not as smooth like butter as BB.1.1 or BB1.0. Also I'm running Launcherpro just like before.

Anyone else experiencing the same when it comes to scrolling? However when I do a bench stress test it comes up on top of every phone that is out right now. Just weird how the scrolling sucks.

I noticed this initially but it seems to smooth out. Give it some time.

Has anyone tried buying anything off the Market under this version with the market patch? I can tell it to purchase, I get the email, but the app won't authorize so it can download. But free stuff downloads instantly while hanging on what I am trying to buy.

I just bought Homerun Battle 3d it did seem to take a little longer than normal but im about to play it right now! all went ok!!!

Hey I found some post I can actually respond to....:icon_ banana:

Its faster using a 700 kernel where on holy blue u would have to us a 1200 kernel to accomplish same benchmark as the 700

Were u using Froyo before?

Put froyo on last night..was running about 1100 kernel...I been running holy blue...this Froyo is faster

Wow.....:)

Jroc which buuild are you using of Froyo that Mototorch works, mine has 33333 test-keys as the end of the build name.

Cereal Killer and others agreed the test keys mean nothing as far as builds. As long as u are running an FRF57 build, it should work. So dont pay attention to the keys.

Good to know it works. Wish my SystemPanel purchase would actually download.

Bluetooth Voice Dialing and FroYo With Blue Ant Q1

This didn't happen with the first version of Froyo, but with this version using my Blue Ant Q1 headsets in order to reach the phone I had to say "contacts," then the head set activated voice dialing from the phone. I heard a voice say "speak now" and then I was able to reach my contacts.

This will be a little known piece of information that will get buried in this thread but you never know who may see it.

I just purchased systempanel myself (Thanks for letting me know it was out of beta), and it downloaded fine.

Is it stuck at authorizing for you? Also try opening the Gtalk application, go back to market and then redownload.

Cleared Market Data/Cache. Opened Gtalk. Opened Market. Picked install. Stalls on "Authorizing Purchase...". And while stalled, I can download other free apps with no issue. Very odd to say the least.
