More Froyo

okay I need some major help here

I'm currently on the old 2.2 build. I want to install the newer one. When I reboot my droid while holding x, to get to the recovery menu, all the phone does is stay on the motorola logo. Once I let go of x it just reboots the phone.

any ideas? :\

If you are using version 1.8.7.5 of ROM Manager, there are issues with not being able to boot into recovery. Try reverting to 1.8.7.4 and flash recovery again, worked for me.

Where do I download an apk of 1.8.7.4 ?

If a flashlight works and chrome to phone works you have the newest build. that everyone else have. They all came out aroudn the same time so I would even assume they were the same to. P3 and mdw changed some stuff in build prop to portect the source some others did not.
Thsi is the info im gathering so far so I would feel pretty safe to say they are all the same. sats. and yesterdyas different. all ones from yesterday = same

Pilot and CK, I'm curious about why you guys are so anti-knowledge on this subject? We are all experimenters, and we are all people who like to toe the line and be cutting-edge on this type of stuff. We are all probably somewhat phone geeks. What's the problem with being curious as to why some of the numbers are different?

.
we are not anti- knowledge we are trying to get people to understand that this "latest build" is the same "latest build" that is floating around everywhere.

People are thinking if they downloaded from xyz site that they are running a different version and its simply not true.

Changing those test keys is not hard to do.

If you don't believe me tear down the different leaks and check for yourself. I'm no developer and if I can see it anyone can.

Having a problem here. I flashed to this Froyo ROM this morning, using the Clockwork image. I used ROM Manager + Clockwork to make a Nandroid backup of my existing ROM (Cyanogen 5.0.7.1) before I did so. I played with Froyo for a while and decided to go back to Cyanogen. Found that Clockwork wasn't letting me into recovery to do so, so I copied my Cyanogen nandroid backup to /sdcard/nandroid and then used ROM Manager to flash SPRecovery. I booted into SPRecovery, did a factory reset (data/cache) and did an Advanced Nandroid Restore of the Cyanogen backup. Reboot and the device just hangs on the "M" screen.

Any ideas?

Reboot into recovery and flash a rom that uses sprecovery. Get it up and running, install rom manager then restore your nandroid backup.

if you extraxt the zip file from here (under sprecovery) you should get a folder that says p3dfr-spr after you extract that file you should get another folder that is unzipped. In that folder should be another folder titled froyo bs........333. Move that entire folder to your nandroid folder on your droid.

HAHAHAHA.... i guess there's no point in getting ur droid setup the way you like it, since it seems like new releases are around the block... roflmao

I wasn't trying to offend you guys with my post, I was simply curious about why the numbers were being changed. It just felt like our honest questions were getting brushed off. And I wasn't trying to confuse anybody, but I know that a lot of us were just wondering the same thing. Thanks for the info guys, We appreciate everything you do for us.

I run CW though, is it the same thing or is SPRecovery recommended?

either flash alternate recovery (sprecovery) in rom manager

or

follow this: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-general-discussions/50056-flashing-froyo-using-cw.html

Reboot into recovery and flash a rom that uses sprecovery. Get it up and running, install rom manager then restore your nandroid backup.

Just tried that. Downloaded the SPRecovery version of this Froyo ROM, booted to SPRecovery and mounted via USB, copied the froyo SPR to /sdcard/nandroid, did factory reset and advanced nandroid restore of the froyo SPR rom. Reboot and it hangs at the "M".

Try installing a rom like bugless beast or some other rom using sprecovery

or

just cut your losses and go rsdlite.
