Moto Droid Supposedly Getting Froyo on 7/13

just to clarify

given Moto's quick press release on the X eFuse issue, it's clear they pay attention to these forums. and because they do, they realize that not releasing 2.2 for the D1 would cause such a revolt, it would make the uproar/class action lawsuits over the i4 seem like a minor tiff/misunderstanding...

No such class action suit ill ever make it to court over a decision from VZ will not release an OTA update. VZ does not have to require any phone updates unless there is a malfunction that hinders the phone to be non-operational. If a software fix is needed to bring the phone to a operational standard the update will be released. Majority of these releases will be done on a smaller scale. 2.2 is an Operating System update that does enhance some features of the droid but as right now the Droid is a fully operational phone despite blue tooth functionality on which does not stop the phone to not operate at a normal level.

VZ fully understand each and every customers concern. There is no signs of 2.2 not being released as I said it will be come but not on Aug 7th. The information that is being provided is not true and very disappointing if by fact it is true or not that VZ employee is providing this information to this website is shame.

First you are wrong. It will not go to September unless something is wrong with the file (which we know there isn't) many doubted me on the Storm 5.0 and the S2 and I was dead on about that too. it will be BEFORE or as the D2 comes out which is August 23rd as far as we know. again I was with VZw yesterday so I am pretty sure it didn't change in 24 hours

Second VZW does read this board as well as Moto and contact me at times themselves. So think what you want but the info I post is verified in more than one way.

Now the class action lawsuit will not be needed. VZw will roll Froyo as well as Gingerbread when its ready so everyone calm down a bit and relax VZW wants thier customers to be happy and the Droid lins is huge for them and Moto.........

i did not mean to imply that there would be a class action against VZW. i'm fairly comfortable in saying that such a thing wouldn't fly. i was simply drawing an analogy (to the iphone hoopla) to show how fervently devoted the Droid Nation is (in a good way), and that this strongly counters against an unsubstantiated, 3x removed rumor about D1 not getting 2.2...

every time these pop up, i keep referring people to Miami and hook's (or ck??) posts confirming from several sources that it's coming 8/7, or thereabouts. no worries here...

dancedroid I really dig my droid, but I don't dig the runaround I get from Big Red Everytime I ask someone about the 2.2 OTA for Original Droid Users. Does anyone know an actual date? Thanks.

It needs serious improvement but I agree. A class action is absurd and there isn't any law firm that will back it.

After having read most of the threads concerning the OTA update to 2.2 and giving them due consideration, in my humble opinion, the update will be pushed to our phones....SOON!

The latest date when the OTA is supposed to be released is the week beginning 8/7. It will happen before the X gets it. We have a reliable source on this but keep 2 things in mind: These dates can get changed at the last minute. So far I've heard nothing of the contrary. Also remember that the distribution will go out for several days, not all in one day. Matter of fact I suspect we will hear very little if anything in 8/7 but if it goes well then distribution will be increased on a daily basis.

Also remember that distribution is completely random. It doesn't matter where you live, when you bought your Droid. It will just happen when it's your turn.

This happened with the 2.1 update.

Why must some of you, even after reading info from reliables sources (Miami and Hookbill have been great) go on about theories as to why we won't get 2.2, when the information that we are has been out there for some time that the Droid is getting 2.2

The constant stream of "reasons why 2.2 isn't coming to the Droid" is both old and boring. We are getting it, they said so, latest mentioned date is 8/7. Let's just wait and see.
