Moto Droid Supposedly Getting Froyo on 7/13

It's crazy to me how people get so irate about an update to their phone. Don't get me wrong, I was looking forward to getting 2.2 on my phone sooner and was a little bummed when it didn't come out, but what's with the anger, people? I mean, it's like there's this "YOU OWE ME!" attitude out there. I just don't get it. I love my Droid and I also understand that companies don't always release stuff just to release it by a certain date. Well, that's what Apple did with the iphone 4 and we see what happened there. Do people think Verizon is just trying to make people mad? That would make no sense at all.

I know, some of you are just mad at the "reliable sources." I don't get that either. Here's a little advice my dad gave me when I was growing up; "Hope for the best and expect the worst."

I spoke to a Verizon rep tonight. He said August 7th, and that both Droid and Droid X will get the update at the same time. This is was the only guy in the store who could talk tech with me, and was the only rep sporting a Droid X or any Droid phone for that matter.

That is not true not one single VZ rep will not tell a customer a date of an OTA update and if he did he or she is not telling the truth. Once the OTA is released the VZ rep will discussed the OTA to you.

Droid2d2, you seem to like cutting people down and yet your posts would indicate that you are new to this forum... and possibly to the Android world.

If you are going to call people liars (like your statement above indicate) you might want to provide some type of credentials that you have that would indicate how you know that the last post is an outright lie. Unless you witnessed this conversation, you can not in any way state "That is not true not one single VZ rep will discussed the OTA to you"!!!

This is called shell tapping in the business world, and data is required to backup up your statements.

Plus, I believe this could be perceived as a violation of the forum rules by bashing another user. Just saying.......................

Moreover, whatever the Murfeesboro people think, salespeople like to have good relations with their customers so they come back. They do not like, for the same reason, to tell people things that are not so. They also like telling customers things they are not supposed to tell them so the customer feels "in the know." You have your sources; salespeople have theirs. We will see who is right in due time.

And, keep in mind: bosses change their mind, too. Just as regular people do. After this week, the Secretary of Agriculture could probably explain why better than most people. Things happen. People change their minds. I imagine Verizon HQ is getting a bit of heat right now about this OTA.

Also remember that distribution is completely random. It doesn't matter where you live, when you bought your Droid. It will just happen when it's your turn.

Dating myself here... but for whatever reason, this line just made me think of Logan's Run. If my Droid changes color and flashes, I'VE BEEN PICKED!! Now, does that mean I'm picked for my update or to go on to a better life??

it will give you 5 home screens. but, if you load LauncherPro (beta is free, but you can buy the Plus on LauncherPro.com, and it's better IMO) or ADW now, you can get up to 7 homescreens.

For further reference, I was 10 years old when that movie came out, and for some stupid reason, remember the TV show, only because my friend was a huge fan of it, and wouldn't stop talking about it.....

i paid for the Plus version ($4), and it's pretty snappy and fluid. i did notice some lag with beta. so far, no issues with Plus (but it's only been 3 days).

I disagree. I have been using it since he only had it up on his website. Never once had lag and I have always ran 7 screens with 2 widgets on every page. Thanks to the pull up tab I don't have a reason to put shortcuts on my desktop. But that's my preferance. And now that it has themes too it's even better. But that's my $.02.
