Motorola Droid Bionic Joins the Droid Family!

Early rumors had it that this would be a global phone. Guess that didn't happen....

It's an LTE phone, of course it's Global. LTE is the Global standard for the next generation of phones.

Thanks for the info, Wingdo, I always wondered about that.

OT, what's the rollout timeline of LTE in Europe? About on par with the US? Hopefully faster?

I am not sure what the time table is in Europe, but LTE is backwards compatible with GSM (LTE uses a SIM card). It is truly a global phone.

Sorry, since I cannot edit posts in news threads, I just need to add on here.

In the VZW CES keynote, one of the three big wigs who answered questions at the end stated flat out that you could put a SIM in from any wireless company (yes even AT&T) and have the phone work on their network. It will not work on Sprint as they are also CDMA but as you should already know VZW and Sprint CDMA phones cannot be used back and forth. But you'd be able to move the Bionic to AT&T or T-Mobile.

How on earth can anyone be disappointed in the Bionic? I say that sincerely. Has anyone taken the time to actually look at the specs on this handset?

Its a letdown because of no docking capabilities? Its a let down because it has ddr2 memory, a Tegra 2 processor and a high res 4.3" screen? The Bionic has the best hardware of any device coming to Market. Help me understand the rationale of being disappointed.

I'm definitely looking to get it. But is the screen really that big it looked smaller next to the droid x.

Cuz people want to go to ATT and pay 4g prices for a 3g network where they get dropped calls and horrid 3g signal.....all just so they can get an extra 488 mb of ram to dock with the laptop. Personally I say calm down and wait for the devices to get some real reviews in the hands of consumers and not reps at the ces showing the same skype videos over and over.

I know, this is the dream phone everyone wanted before CES. Now we have it, and we still complain. The moment I saw this I fell in love with the design, then the specs just completed the sale for which 4G phone I was going to get. It is hands down the best phone out.

If you don't like it, go to AT@T to get the Atrix, plain and simple. It's the NEXT best phone on the market for sure. But I love the 4.3 inch screen, and I'm glad we got the better camera too! (8 mega pixels! vs 5 mega pixels!)

ONLY DOWNSIDE TO THIS DEVICE!!!....IT COMES OUT IN Q2!!!:mad::mad::mad: Otherwise it would be perfect! :)

Who is say that it will not have a Dock? I believe it will have an desktop Dock and a Car Dock by the time the phone is released... I do not care if it docks to a lap top. As l can dock it like the DX I will be happy...

Right there with ya. I don't quite get it myself.

For me personally the whole laptop-dock thing doesn't interest me and seems a bit gimmicky. I also have read elsewhere that the additional 512mb of RAM in the Atrix is to support the second OS. Some people think we lost out on the docking thing but isn't the XOOM tablet a Verizon exclusive? I thought it was but could be mistaken.

We really need to see the side-by-side comparisons before we make a judgment. For me there would have to be a significant performance difference to consider this phone a disappointment.

No dissapointment here, I can't wait to pre-order this beast - in my mind, it's already a done deal :D

I'm loving what I hear about it so far and it will probably be my next device.

That being said, I can honestly say that I'm disappointed that the Atrix is being released with more RAM, but we make up for that with our sweet LTE network.

The only other thing that is weird to me is that the device is fat and round, and I think they had the right idea with the angles they used on the D1 and DX. The doughboy look is better for apple. It almost looks like what they did when they went from their huge success with the angled RAZR to the weird curves of their later phones... which all failed. Like this:
