Motorola XOOM $800 plus minimum 1 month service?

800 bucks.....i got my ailenware m11x laptop that is way more powerful than that tablet for only 550 and look I'm not locked into a service in order to use it properly. It's still almost the same screen size 11" but its just a little thicker than the tablet but who cares i paid less for more.

Wow I've never heard so much *****ing over 20 dollars if your going to pay 800 dollars
For the tablet 20 bucks isn't going to kill you and even if you have 5 lines on your verizon family plan a tablet data plan is it's own separate line you can add 4 tablets on there if you wanted to its an amazing device and its honeycomb if you've got the money there's no reason a 1 month data plan should hold you back from buying it I'm sure as soon as the data package is applied you would be able to use wifi so don't cry to hard just because you have to play along for a whole month boo fing who

Lol, all I heard when I read your post is.....

"what its 800 dollars....its a Hyundai" - George Costanza

Wow... and I remember when people were going psycho crazy when the Galaxy Tab was originally priced at $600. This device is bigger, faster, more powerful, runs a far more advanced OS, and will likely be top of the line for a very long time.

Seems like the extra $200 is justified when you compare it like that

People are so stupid.

Its a misprint in the AD about the WiFi. What they mean is the 3G/4G function will be disabled if you dont get a data plan, which is obvious. Its just a misprint in the AD and I cant believe people are so uneducated to think other wise. Best Buy has misprints almost every time new technology comes out.

I hope so, because if you were locked into a data plan just for wi-fi they should reduce the price at least 100 bucks.

did anyone else notice the prices for "3G tablet" service of 1GB / $20 - 3GB / $35 - 5GB / $50 - 10GB / $80? Shouldn't it be the same price as a phone's data plan?
No the pricing for tablets is different simply because its was meant to be used as a laptop kinda...which means more data consuming...that's how it is for the galaxy tab

Sent from my DROID2

There is no "data plan" for WiFi. People are just stupid and dont understand that its a misprint in the AD. They are taking about 3G service NOT wifi. The people who create the Best Buy ADs are NOT technologically inclined and make misprints EVERY time there is a new tech item out. I find it amazing that people hjere actually think you will need the get a data plan for WiFi. Very funny. I mean Im on a entirely higher level of intellect here.

Pump your brakes, no insults are tolerated.

I'm certain your correct.

And how do you know this? Yeah, you can assume it's a misprint in the ad (which everyone hopes it is) but where's your proof that that's all it is? How are we stupid for assuming that what's printed in a BEST BUY AD is true?

Furthermore, I don't think anyone believes that the WiFi itself requires a data plan. The problem is the ad makes it seem like they require you get at least one month of 3G service in order to even enable the WiFi radio for general use (even if you cancel 3G service after a month).

We definitely need more details from Motorola, Best Buy, and/or Verizon to see where this is going.

It's not so much about it being $20. It's about seeing the cost/benefit in what you get for $820. There's a difference.

nailhead meet hammer..I've had my droid for a year or so and have likely gotten $550 worth of use out of it thus far. On the other hand I have had my XPS M1530 laptop for two years, paid twice as much (as a droid) and have likely seen 200/300 worth of use....buyers remorse like a mofo.

I think moto kinda messed up big time if this isn't a false ad. They might have been able to get away with 700$ for it, because it's about 2x what the ipad is. I think moto has let the success of the past few months go to their head. Whoever at moto thought that 800 would be a good idea, should pack his bags and just move on.

Yeah, its $800 now.... And if you want to be on the cutting edge of technology, you are going to pay top dollar for the best performing, most advanced operating system out there. But once the novelty of having that wears off, the price will fall. Give it a while... You want this thing but are not willing to pay that price, wait til summer. You'll be able to get them for $600-$700 within a few months, and by the fall they'll be half what you initially paid. But then again, the Xoom2 will be on the way, so yeah.

Same thing happened with the Galaxy Tab.
