Mysterious Device Now With November 23 Launch date

Been enjoying this thread and really looking forward to getting the DINC HD when it comes out. A big thanks to Miami for the info he's provided. After being a fan of phones and then smartphones for the past 12 years there's something that's bothering me about this upcoming release and I think a lot of us are going to be disappointed on Friday.

What we know:
There are some pics of a device that we're assuming is the DINC HD
Miami has a contact that states the phone is going to be available for preorder on Friday.

That's it, this is not to disparage Miami or state what he's telling us isn't true, it's just that EVERY other phone that comes out has leaks, pictures, images of the phone in some companies' system. We have none of that here at all. Try to think back in the last year when the last time a phone was released that we didn't have any info, and now we're told it'll be available on Friday? It just doesn't add up or make sense. I have my doubts about the info his connection is providing, but I have no doubts about the sincerity of the posts.

Like I said, I want this as much as anyone else, but these threads tend to get people worked up to a frenzy and I'm afraid there's going to be a bunch of really upset people come 12:01am on Friday and then throughout the day as members of this great site keep refreshing VZW's site and calling.

Not trolling, just trying to state what is pretty obvious when you sit back and look at this objectively.

well on spec standards this isnt like every other phone so thats why its being treated like no other phone.. because this phone will kill the sales of other phones on their lineup and that makes the other manufacters not happy..

I do see your point, sometimes you just got to have faith and if high end reps for VZN are telling him Pre-Orders start friday then why would anyone have reason to doubt otherwise just because it hasnt been treated the same as every other phone..

time will tell like always..

I called a local Verizon store to see if I'm eligible for an early upgrade this month. The representative I talked to said I wasn't eligible for an upgrade until 1/18/11... but said my mom's line (family plan) is eligible for an upgrade. I have the option to take my mom's upgrade so I can apply it to the upcoming HTC Incredible HD (she doesn't care if I do this) and then she'll have my upgrade date of 1/18/11.

Has anyone ever done this before? Can you really trade upgrade dates with someone you share a family with? Is there a term for it that I should be aware of?

Yes you can do this, I've done it several times and I don't think they even have to be on the same account as you.

Just keep in mind ladies and gentlemen these things are VERY fluid. Handsets are delayed and/or canceled ALL THE TIME.

It's a done deal, shipping in January.

Verizon will clear out the stores for iPhone, I imagine there being BOGA for pretty much ALL the android devices this winter. Brand new or not....

Apple's using their hard won position as the maker of the #1 phone in America to bully Verizon into giving them as soft a landing as possible. Nothing wrong with that.

I can't believe this--too much evidence pointing otherwise. Even Miami said as much?

With that being said, I hope you are right and Apple is stupid enough to delay Verizon to 2012 in order to keep the iPhone as crippled as possible on AT&T with only 1 release a year... for at least another two years while Android continues to blow right past it.

I'd hate to see a great phone like the DINC HD dwarfed only 1 or 2 months after it is released. (Had to get back on topic :icon_eek: )

Or was he talking about the DINC HD? I doubt anyone on this thread knows much about the current state of the iPhone rumors as it pertains to Verizon.

I do think that to give these phones the best shot at sales - they need to be out well in advance of the iPhone4's release.

I hope the DINC HD is still on for November.

I was in Lexington and a market manager was there (correct term regional for VZW?). That person knew nothing about a Friday preorder and THEY are the people in operations that executes such events. No training no info- zip.

The problem is not Miami, but everybody latching on to something they wrote and then trying to rationalize through very loose comparisons of other new devices. A lot of you treat it as fact, in spite of all logic that suggests it is NOT happening.

If anyone will be mad and flame Miami, it will be the True Believers who happen upon Friday with no preorder. Perhaps if not info tomorrow, people will come to terms and not be upset that a manifested launch date never happened.

Best case is probably 11/23 for preorder and a December launch. Assuming VZW does not wait for LTE phase for launch in 2011. Would not be the first time test devices have floated around and not ever released.

I do that pretty much every time between my two lines. Works like a charm.

I'm hoping for a November release, if not I might have to go with the X.. I'm desperate for a new phone as this env2 is on it's last leg.. (outer screen has black blobs in it, buttons dont work, have to open it to answer, keys stick and press twice, keys have a 2 second delay sometimes,etc,etc) I had a G1 on release day but had to switch to verizon later on, I can't wait to get back to a Droid.
