Mysterious Device Now With November 23 Launch date

Not to be Negative, But this is how I see it.

1. This phone needs to be 3G. Why? Most of us won’t have 4G till 2013 unless you’re in a major city. Besides, who wants to pay an extra $10 or more for something you don't have. Waste of money to me.

2. This phone from the looks of it will grow to be a great selling device. But I really cannot see it being a stand in line phone till I start seeing commercial after commercial advertizing it.

3. Before the D1 was released, Verizon had commercials playing a month before its release date and TONS of pictures of the Droid with Verizon's branding on the device was all over the internet. We still have yet to have SOLID information about this phone stating that it's a Verizon phone/Droid.

4. No matter what, a Verizon iPhone will be the best selling phone for Verizon if released January or February. That’s why Motorola is releasing T2 for ATT and most likely Sprint. Even though Verizon’s Motorola LTE T2/Terminator will be a Droid and more powerful than the ones getting released on the other carriers, the battery life will be horrible and some reports say the screen can be as big as 4.7” No thank you!

Believe me. I’m in no way calling anyone a liar. So please do not bash me for my opinions. I really would love to get my hands on this phone IF in fact it’s for Verizon. I was really considering the DX or iPhone till I saw the “HTC Incredible HD” back in August on BGR.com and it has made me think twice. So for now I’m going to give it till the end of this month. If I don’t hear ANYTHING new that true about this device than I will give up on all hope. Unless Verizon, HTC, BGR, Miami or someone else gives me HARD evidence and FACTS that this is in fact a Verizon phone.

The comment about when Verizon will complete it's system with LTE in 2013 is accurate. They may indeed roll it out earlier if there is a sign up list like that one thread I read indicated. But as far as how they roll it out, that's the big question. It's not scheduled to be completed all over the Verizon Network until 2013. We already know the cities that will get it first but we don't know if that means the city and suburbs or just the city.

I have a feeling however that the announcement about 4G isn't what Miami had in mind. What it is to be honest I don't have a clue but I do know this: Miami has to be careful what he says and even though he said he may have some more information this afternoon, I'd wager a bet and say don't count on it.

I will say though when he does get some information he can release and when he gets time to do it, he will. So please let's not get the expectation level up to what it was on the other thread about this that I closed down. Be patient. And give Miami a break. I called him today and asked him if he could say something, and I can tell you he's very, very busy. He was working in between sentences.

I'm as anxious to hear about what he knows as everyone else. Let's give him some breathing room.

Whats with all these people pushing the DX on this thread? If we are going to spend 200-600 on a device we will spend it on what we want. The DX has some great internals, but the externals are not that great IMO. I don't like the wiggling buttons, and I don't like that laggy feel of the UI. It's just ugly. HTC doesn't put out subpar build quality. The people have spoken, and we want a Dinc with a larger screen and front facing camera so give it to us Verizon.

Exactly. I think the DX was a good first shot for Motorolla to get back into the smart phone game - but the motoblur UI, wiggly buttons and weird form factor makes it less desireable for most people. To be honest - I don't like the back of the DINC either with its multi level and protruding camera. That is one thing that I just love about the still rumored Droid Incredible HD that we are waiting to see. This (if true and real) is the first HTC phone to have a flush camera and 4.3" screen. It is the perfect evolution of this 4.3" form factor.

Why don't you get a DX? I don't see why you're placing all of your hope on this phone when Verzion has several other great Droid phones.
the DX is a piece of crap i know about 8 or so ppl with one and only 1 works properly others are laggy with constant freeze problems and bottom line i Fn hate moto but if u like them hey thats u though me i wont touch there crap sorry HTC FOR ME :)

I never said 11/11 i said around the 23rd. Now i may finally be able to say more today

I totally understand how we all need to give Miami some breathing room - but as for getting expectations up today...Miami has gotten good at that!!

His post above served to reignite any excitement that had died down over the last couple of days. I too doubt we see or hear anything today...or at least soon today. But it is statements above that get us excited - not just the random chatter back and forth between those of us waiting to hear something.

That said - Miami - for the record we know you don't owe us anything and that you are a busy guy - and we appreciate what you are doing. But lets say you tell the verizon folks that your audience needs something...anything...and let a picture slip!!!

Still waiting with the rest of us.

when i upgraded to my current phone back in february i wasn't eligible for an upgrade until april. but i signed paperwork saying i was using my upgrade early and got the 1 year price. doing that costs you 20.00, not bad if you want the phone sooner rather than later

yea at this point i would take anything even a blurry ass pic were u cant even tell what it is lol. or the bottom left corner inch of the device we want sumn SUMN LOL

I think we should not have gotten excited by what he said. After all, I believe he said "hopefully". I think we should have learned this by now. I am just happy he showed up and that we did not drive him away yet.

Back to the current topic. I said above that the four Verizon (top of the line) phones are good enough for the general public. I walked into Best Buy yesterday and all four were displayed and look very nice. (Although, I was thinking: will they be this fast if you installed 90 more apps on them???) Anyhow, the general public do not read the tech blogs, and even less read these forums. I was simply saying, Verizon has several top of the line phones out. True, they may not be exactly what we are looking for, but lets not act like Verizon is putting crap out because we know about phones that may (or may not) be coming out soon (or much later).

As far as Motoblur, why don't you just install a different launcher? If I get the DINC HD that is what I'd do over the HTC Sense (maybe).

I am not a big fan or rooting a phone or changing launchers. I'll leave that for the younger crowd. And I actually like Sense. But the big deal killer for me on the DX was the cheap feeling buttons on the bottom (similar to my Storm1) and the odd shape witht he camera bumping out at the top. Those issues make the phone look like it wasn't fully baked before shipping...as if the buttons and camera were an after thought.

Personal preference...thats all.

To each his own. I've never met anyone with a laggy DX or wiggly buttons.

Please don't bash the DX with the motoblur argument, everyone here knows about launcherpro and adw and the device is lightning running any of the two. Sense is no better of a skin and has its crippling features as well, coming from a former eris owner.. At the end of the day its a matter of preference and nothing mentioned is a definitive dealbreaker. Keep wishing for this phone, while we DX owners continue to enjoy this 4.3" goodness.

I do believe, that the ideal phone is one that should not be rooted and the stock options are good enough. But then, the power of Android is the customization abilities.

Now Rooting? Yeah, I'm fine with your thoughts on that. Though it is an easy process for me now, it was time consuming and risky in the beginning (but wow DROID 1 so smooth now!!!).

Changing Launchers? Well, this is a simple app found in the market. Outside of setting up your home screens again (much like you did when you first purchased your phone), there isn't much to it and it solves many problems and gives you a personalized feel at the same time. Although, if you like Sense, then yeah, there is no point. But many have advised it over Blur.
